As with any smoking appliance, a smoking oven is a concerning fire risk. It also negatively impacts your indoor air quality, which can put vulnerable people at risk of breathing problems. A dirty oven can catch fire if you don’t stay on top of regular maintenance, so remember to check your oven for signs that it’s time for a cleaning and remove buildup every three months to stay on the safe side.

Although some oven doors have screws in them that hold the handle or the glass in place, you should not remove these screws. Your oven’s hinges should pull loose without the need to remove the screws. If you are repairing your oven door, though, you may need to remove some screws.

Kitchen exhaust fans are regularly exposed to grease. To remove grease from a range hood, make a paste from baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the greasy areas and let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping it off with a cloth or sponge. If that doesn’t work, use a degreaser soap or cleaning product.

Nearly all oven doors are removable when you want to perform your regular oven maintenance tasks. However, you may have an unusual model that does not allow you to remove the door. If you are struggling to figure out how to remove the door, refer to your oven owner’s manual to learn if your door is removable and how you can remove it.

Use a damp toothbrush or soft cloth to brush the coils gently. If the food particles are gone, but there are still brown stains on your toaster, make a mixture of baking soda and water and apply it to the marks. After five minutes, scrub it away with the cloth or toothbrush.
