Small jobs welcome

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! "Daniel and Kylan were right on time, polite, professional and did an excellent job. When a corner of the carpet still had an odor, they returned around 5 to treat that spot again. Very polite, wearing a smile, totally professional. Carpets all smelled good and clean and refreshed."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Getting an upholstery cleaner depends on whether you feel you’ll use it often. As a specific piece of cleaning equipment, it can be a costly investment if it's left sitting only for special occasions. But if you clean your upholstered furniture regularly, investing in this specialty tool could save you time and money in the long run.

Yes, some carpet stains can be permanent. Stains that have been sitting for a long time (weeks, months, or years) are much harder to remove because they have had time to dry and set. Other types that may be permanent include oil-based stains and dye stains. While some cleaners can help, they can also risk dyeing or permanently changing the carpet's color. If you have an old stain and are unsure of the cause, it's best to call a carpet cleaning professional. If DIY methods and professional cleaning fail, you may need to replace that section of carpet or learn to live with the stain.

Costs are influenced by furniture size, fabric type, level of soiling, and geographic location. After evaluating the extent of cleaning required, professionals usually provide a per-piece estimate.

The best steam cleaner depends on what you need to steam clean. The most consumer-friendly option is a steam mop for hard-surface floors, like tile, which is particularly effective at cleaning the grout. While you can use a steam mop for other things, a canister steam cleaner is more versatile in what it can clean, helping you tackle windows, counters, and even your car. A handheld steam cleaner is your best bet if you’re looking for a more portable solution to get into hard-to-reach places.

The cost to clean an area rug is typically between $2 and $6 per square foot, meaning an 8-by-10-foot rug will cost $160 to $480 to clean. However, the final price depends on several factors. The rug's material is a primary consideration, with costs per square foot varying: Synthetic ($1–$4), Cotton ($2–$8), Sisal ($4–$7), Silk ($4–$8), Sheepskin ($4–$8), and Wool ($5–$8). Specialty rugs, like oriental rugs, can cost more, averaging $5 to $9 per square foot. Other factors influencing the price include the rug's size and condition, the cleaning method (hand washing can increase the cost to $4 to $9 per square foot), whether the service is on-site or requires pick-up, and your geographic location. A large, heavily soiled rug could cost $650 or more to clean.
