Small jobs welcome

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! "Part of my disappointment with this provider may have been my overly high expectations, as I purchased a "Big Deal" coupon thinking this was for a whole house ductwork cleaning (after a kitchen renovation), which I have had done before by several other firms (usually costing about $350), and this was only to vacuum out the individual vents in each room -- only about 6 inches deep, which we regularly do when we vacuum, plus they vacuumed out the furnace box, which we do and my HVAC firm does each spring and fall, and it does not get very dirty since I have an electronic air cleaner and use special filters which I change regularly.
I also felt this firm used this opportunity to try and sell me more services (they wanted to disassemble my entire furnace box and electrical connections at that time to "clean it better" for several hundred dollars more, and I have had my HVAC firm for 30 years and they never tried to do something like that (they have always commented on how clean it was in there), plus this furnace was only 5 years old).
The work they did was OK, but the floor vents and furnace box were not that dirty.

"Above the Rest truly lives up to its name! We recently hired them for janitorial services, and the difference they made was amazing. Our floors had become dull and worn over time, and we honestly didn't think they could look as good as they do now. After their team finished, the floors looked completely refreshed and shinier than they have ever been. The attention to detail was outstanding, and every area was left spotless. The crew was professional, dependable, and clearly takes pride in delivering quality work. If you're looking for a janitorial company that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend Above the Rest. Their exceptional service and results exceeded our expectations, and we'll definitely be using them for some time to come!"

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It is possible to get blood out of a carpet, but it is a difficult process in some cases, especially if the blood has dried. It’s best to address the blood stain as quickly as possible before the proteins in the blood bind to the carpet fibers. Start by blotting with just cold water, then with cold water and dish soap. From there, move on to more aggressive options as needed, such as enzymatic stain removers, hydrogen peroxide solutions, or ammonia solutions.

Cleaning floors is a relatively easy DIY job, but paying for a professional cleaning service is worthwhile if you don’t have the time to dedicate to cleaning or if you have particularly dirty floors, deep-set stains, or wooden floors that you might damage during the cleaning process. A professional house cleaner will have the tools and experience necessary to remove dirt, pet hair, debris, and even stains and discoloration from your floors without damaging them. The service is also relatively affordable, making it a great investment if you don’t have the time or tools to do it yourself.

A carpet cleaning spray or a homemade cleaning solution is the best thing to clean carpet stains. For full-house carpet cleaning, a steam cleaner can remove dirt and leave your carpets fresh and like new. For deep-set stains or worn carpet, consider hiring a carpet cleaning professional to restore it completely.

There are many benefits to hiring a professional floor cleaner. First, these flooring pros know the right chemicals for your flooring type, which is essential for its longevity. Likewise, they have the proper deep-cleaning equipment, which is often more complex than a mop or broom. Not only that, but deep cleaning your floors can be a time-consuming process, and by hiring a professional, you can spend that time on other home improvement projects.

Yes, it is possible to over-shampoo a carpet or overuse a carpet cleaner, which can cause more harm than good. Applying too much cleaning solution (oversaturation) or shampooing too frequently can damage the carpet. Potential negative effects include leaving behind a sticky residue that attracts more dirt, weakening the carpet fibers, and causing a worn appearance, which can shorten the carpet's lifespan. Furthermore, oversaturating the carpet can hinder the drying process, leading to discoloration, shrinking, tearing, and an increased risk of mold or mildew growth.
