Small jobs welcome

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! "We had had a new kitchen put in and then a year later, we had had our kitchen floor redone and basement repaired after a flood in our house.  Water from our washer had flooded the kitchen and laundry room and then flowed through the floor into the basement theater room and rec room.  We had to have a new (porcelain) tile floor put in upstairs and new paint and carpeting throughout the basement.   The work for the new kitchen and then the flood required a huge amount of sanding, spackling and more sanding...etc. The dust in our house was a big problem afterwards from the spackle dust that accumulated  in our ducts.  We decided to have our ducts cleaned and found All States on Angie's list.   It went great!  They were on time, conversant about the state of our ducts.  They did the job.  I have noticed that the air is better in the house and we have much less dust on furniture!  Very happy with their services and I would definitely hire them again.

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Professional rug cleaning will take between one day and a week on average. Some cleaners can complete the process in a few hours depending on the method, but most will keep the rug for several days to ensure proper cleaning and drying.

Yes, you can steam clean a suede couch, but avoid using any additional cleaning solution. The hot water should be strong enough to remove any stains. If you find after steam cleaning your suede couch is still showing dirt and debris, a professional furniture cleaner will have a more powerful steam cleaner to do the job.

While you don’t have to move everything out of a room for a carpet cleaning, doing so will reveal hidden dirt and allow for a more thorough cleaning. However, for heavy or rarely used areas under furniture, cleaning around the pieces can be enough. Professional cleaners often work around large items or move furniture as needed.

If you or your pet are unlucky enough to enrage a skunk during extraction, don’t douse yourself in tomato juice—it only masks the odor. A more effective way to get rid of skunk smells is with a hydrogen peroxide solution which you apply to skin, pet fur, or clothing.

Vinegar is great at lifting food-based stains from carpets and upholstery, but some people prefer to avoid using this strong-smelling cleaner out of fear that the scent will linger long after getting rid of the spot. If you're not afraid of the pungent smell, try mixing equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle in place of the DIY solution we suggested above. Then, use these tips to remove the smell of vinegar from your home.
