He texted me to keep me informed along the way which I appreciated. What I like about Corey is that he’s an honest, straightforward guy. Tree work is notoriously expensive as home/landscape expenses go, and he gets it - he won’t try to sell you something you don’t need or pressure you into having more work done than is necessary. These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

Tree trimming can count as landscaping, depending on how a landscaping business describes its services. Professional tree trimmers are more specialized than landscapers and offer trimming services separately from general landscaping.

When general landscaping companies offer tree trimming, look up the details. They usually mean shaping or seasonal trimming of ornamental trees, which is different from trimming larger trees for health or safety reasons. When possible, look for a licensed expert that specializes in trees and tree health.

This depends on the type of tree you are moving. Deciduous trees excel when moved in early spring before growth begins or in the fall after the leaves drop. Evergreens are most successfully transplanted in early spring or at the tail-end of summer. Pine trees do best in early fall but wait until late fall to move maple trees. Basically, you want a dormant tree with reduced foliage, but winter is a no-go, as frost in the soil is a huge risk to the roots as you dig.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.
