"We had new quartz counters installed by Signature Marble and Granite. I highly recommend them for several reasons. Mick and the others were always responsive to our questions and followed through in every step to make sure the results of our installation were high quality. Everything is level, centered, etc, and finished in a timely manner. Extremely helpful and responsive!"

"We are exceptionally happy with Young Tile Company. Kathy has expertise in all areas of the tiling business. She is a great communicator, knowledgeable on ALL elements of tiling design, materials, and installation, and is a skilled problem solver. We found Young Tile to be a good value for the skills and expertise Kathy and staff provide. Kathy is reliable and responsible and always kept us informed of her plans and schedule. We were so pleased with the service that we will use Young Tile Company for all of our tiling needs going forward. Who doesn't need trusted, good quality contractors in their contacts list? "10/10. Will definitely work with Utah Flooring and Design again! Jack was the first person that we reached out to for a bid that actually showed up when he said he was going to show up to give us a bid. Not only did he show up, but we had a bid before he left the house. As part of their service you receive very clear communications - estimates, work orders / change orders, notifications and reminders for appointments / scheduling, etc. Every person that was assigned to our job from delivery to demo to install showed up on time and left our home (a.k.a. a total construction zone) cleaned-up after each day. Both Achilles, who did the tile and Pedro, who did the wood flooring were total pros and did high-quality work. Looking forward to working with them again when we get around to remodeling the bathrooms!"

"Got a quote from Raoul, but instead brought a friend out from Virginia to do the install, thinking it would save me money. My friend was a handyman and not an accomplished ceramic tile installer. He bit off a little more than he could chew and had to return home before the job was finished. I called Raoul back to see if he would finish the job, which he did, no problem. Cost-wise I didn’t save any money with a lot more headaches, although it was nice to see my friend again. I was in the Floorcovering business for 40 years and I made a rookie mistake. PIBI TILE was so nice to work with and did excellent work. It’s hard to find an installer to come finish another mans work. PIBI didn’t hesitate. I also used his handyman to finish the plumbing, install a vanity and the grab bars. He did excellent work also. Don’t hesitate, give them a shot at your project."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The choice of whether to tile or use an acrylic tub surround is up to you and can be based on a number of factors, including aesthetics, cost, waterproofing, ease of cleaning, and maintenance.

Tile is a beautiful, classic bathtub surround choice; while tile installation cost is higher, it’s customizable and offers visual appeal. Tile is also harder to clean and presents waterproofing problems because of grout lines. Acrylic surrounds can be more affordable, don’t require much maintenance, and are easier to clean. However, they aren’t usually as visually appealing and may need to be replaced if they become damaged.

Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.
