Worked with Jack to get carpet installed in our basement. The installers came and it ended up being the wrong color! I immediately went to Utah Flooring and Design to fix this. After I spoke with Jack, he understood the honest mistake and I could feel that he cared and wanted make this correct. I really appreciate the customer service and going above and beyond to get it replaced free of charge! Definitely will be working with them in the future, thank you Jack!

Working with Paul was great. He did a free consult for us on a Re-flooring project. He was a little late due to inclement weather but communicated the whole way to be sure that the timing was good even with the delays. He also had the lowest quote by a few hundred dollars. The only reason we didn't go with him was due to a timing issue when it came to the install data. Paul did the needed measurements and provided a quick guestimate on the likely cost of the install up front. He provided additional insights around things that would impact the cost and let me choose if I wanted to pre pay for the potential costs and get a refund if they weren't needed or if I wanted to just pay for them if they came up. Paul was quick to get the quote back to us and continued to communicate with us. He's been great for additional questions that came up along the way as well. He provided update quotes and guidance based on the changes that we considered.

My wife and I recently purchased some flooring from Utah Flooring & Design and had them do the install. We are very happy with the way the install turned out but there were some issues during the install we were not happy about. Jack came out to give us a bid. The installers name was Edgar. The office rep was Cindy. When the installer arrived around 11:00AM he was talking on his phone using a Bluetooth device. The installer continued to talk on his phone a good amount of time. At one point my wife was on her phone with a friend and was asked what she was watching due to the talking in the background, my wife stated the tv was off and that was the flooring installer. When he saw my wife approaching the screen door he opened the door and proceeded to walk into our house, this is a problem because we have a dog that likes to run away and also that is totally unacceptable behavior when at a stranger’s house. At the beginning of the visit my wife advised the installer that we wanted any flooring scraps that were left over, since we paid for all the flooring. My wife also advised we wanted all the base molding scraps that were left over as we purchased the base molding ourselves. The flooring was being installed in the upper level of our house and during the installation my wife was on the main level of our house. There are only 10 stairs between the main and upper level of our home. At one point the installer stated he did not have enough flooring to complete the job but was able to reconfigure to make it work. We did not understand how he could not have enough flooring as Jack from the company came out to measure and give us a bid. At one point my wife heard the installer using our bathroom without the door closed and he left the toilet seat up. Totally unprofessional. Without the install completed the installer told my wife he had to leave at around 6:00PM for an appointment . When he left he did not clean up the work area leaving a mess in our bathroom, hallway where he was installing the flooring and on our stairs. When the installer returned he parked in our driveway. After a short time my wife asked him to move his van because I would be home shortly. He did pull his van in the street but was still partially blocking our driveway. When I arrived home I was unable to park in my normal spot due to the installer having his saw set up and a pile of debris on the driveway. There was also another spot on our driveway where he had been trimming the flooring. When I went inside the installer was just finishing up and started taking his tools out to his van. My wife once again mentioned that we wanted the leftover scraps but he had already put them in his van. We had to remind him to go get all the scraps for us. After he brought us the scraps he said he was done and left without cleaning up the mess in the work area or on our stairs. At this point my wife was very frustrated. It was now 8:00PM. To avoid any injury to my wife, myself or our pets we had to clean up the mess left behind by the installer. The debris included floor trimmings, staples, chunks of the removed carpet and padding and a lot of dust. When I went outside the next morning to go to work there were two places on our driveway that the installer did not clean up. One spot was where he had been cutting the baseboard and the other where he was cutting the flooring. I had to take the time to clean up the mess left by the installer. My wife called into their office to let them know about the issues during the install. She spoke with Cindy in the office. Cindy told my wife she would address these issues with the installer. When my wife heard back from Cindy she was told the installer stated the bathroom door was closed ( everything from our closet floor was there blocking the door’s ability to close). The installer also stated there were no pieces of flooring or baseboard left over. As to the mess left inside our home the only thing said was the installer said he was sorry if anything was left behind. There was no accountability recognized for the actions of the installer. Had there been ownership and accountability taken for the actions of the installer this review would have been completely different. The first time we used this company the installers did a wonderful job and even cleaned up when done leaving nothing behind. This was our 2nd time using this company. Unfortunately due to this experience we will be looking for a different company for our next flooring project. Between my wife and I we have over 70 years of customer service experience. My current job is in customer service for a large national company

Utah flooring started out to be a great company. Their bid was not cheepiest but jack who did the quote made me feel like they were going to be the best one for the job. Now I am wishing I went with a different company. they completed our flooring job December 23rd. because of the fumes we did not go into the house until Jan 4th.The technician missed many cracks in the floor, did not fill them. I texted jack on January 4th to get someone out to inspect the job. He became unresponsive took many texts to finally get someone out. Did not get anyone out until Jan 22nd. We tried getting the floors all done before we moved in Jan 25th because we have a newborn and toddler and did not want them breathing in the fumes. Bobby the manager finally came out to our home and said those cracks should have been filled and he was going to come out with the technician to fix them on Jan 24th. the manager did not come like he said he would only the technician, and it was the same technician from the original job. I still have cracks in the floors that should have been filled and sealed, not just filled like they did.

Finished our basement it was a mess. The shower didn’t drain so they redid it. It still didn’t drain. But they told us it was better than the first install. The window was framed crooked because they didn’t cut the tile straight. Sloppy work. And Cindy lied about fixing the job after she spoke the manager who installed it. I asked for someone else to come review the work and they sent the guy who installed it. Like asking a kindergartener to do an algebra test and grade it themselves. A+. They operate with zero integrity and they deserve every bad review. They are also only listened as general contractors so when you look them up they aren’t really certified or trained in any way. They’ll just tell you they are.

there are many things wrong with utah flooring & design 1) even though agreeing to send a check through my bank, ufd hounded me for payment the same day, from multiple numbers, through text & calls. ufd continued to harass me for payment days after. they even wanted to get my bank on the phone to confirm payment. they literally asked me if the check was going to "bounce." 2) their "customer service" is not even that. their "company culture" is that "they" are right and the customer is wrong. texting/calling ufd, their responses were passive-aggressive, condescending & belittling. what ive experienced backs-up my opinion that their "company culture" is toxic. 3) what i can tell, ufd is family-owned. there is no real recourse to report my bad experience. i feel any feedback id give would simply be ignored because there is no real structure in how the company audits/tracks "customer experience." i should of checked their BBB rating which is only 2 stars out of 5.
Response from Utah Flooring & Design
"When someone owes you money you should call them . Customer was supposed to pay final payment the day the job began. He did not. So the office had a job to contact customers until there bill is paid. This is typical business practice. Thanks again. Utah Flooring And Design management"

UNBELIEVABLY BAD/SLOPPY/UNPROFESSIONAL - DO NOT USE I want to start with - I want nothing for free. I mostly wanted an apology, and some sort of customer service on the 6 hours I spent driving back and forth to the location when pushing the time out randomly throughout the day. Money is not the issues here - I could not care less about the money it cost. It was actually cheap so one thing to note is you should expect to get what you pay for because this job as installed poorly and looks terrible. Found out as I was driving to unlock the location that they were going to be 3 hours late. They charged me for the full amount of the job immediately even though they had not even shown up yet. Then he texted again saying he would not actually start until 5 hours late (We do not live in this location and had to drive all the way out there (an hour away). He never let me know he had even arrived. They finished the job 7.5 hours late. I had to drive out there 3 times because we cannot just leave the location unlocked (6 hours total of drive time for me that day) Someone called me and spoke to me in an understanding way and let me know they would get back to me and will absolutely be giving me some kind of refund for the inconvenience, drive time (6 HOURS), and bad communication. They then gaslighted me and acted like absolutely nothing went wrong that day on their part and apparently that conversation I had didn't happen. They will probably respond to this with some bull saying none of this happened and they responded in a timely manner. They did not (I have emails and text screen shots) - don't be fooled by the first estimate appointment. They were unreliable, sloppy, unprofessional and the worst customer service I have ever seen. We will absolutely not be using them and I would not recommend using these scammers to ANYONE.

I will never hire Utah Flooring and Design again. Extremely poor workmanship and customer service. Complete lack of ownership. The pictures speak for themselves, but only represent a fraction of the numerous issues I've been left to fix on my own and at my expense. Do your due diligence and read other reviews. My experience is not the exception, it is the norm.

Hardwood Flooring Service

Unprofessional. This project left my floor new problems that did not exist prior and interactions with the company and staff were beyond disappointing. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. They operate as Utah Flooring and Design, Utah Floor Coverings, and Home Solutionz). I hired them for a wood floor refinish. I was never sure which company I was dealing with and I got correspondence from all three. They took half of the money for the project up front and as soon as they rang my doorbell to start the project, they had automatically charged the other half of the money for the a hardwood refinish. A less shady practice would be to collect the remainder of the invoice upon completion. In retrospect, that was an indicator that I should have picked up on because everything since has been incredibly disappointing. I didn't do my homework on reviews of this company, and if you are reading this and other reviews of this company, you should know that you can dodge a bullet and book someone else. I am stuck with a poor product and have dealt with unprofessional and rude staff for the past few weeks as I've tried to resolve significant quality issues with my project. During the install, the crew sat their dirty equipment on my clean carpet, tossed their cigarette butts in my driveway. The installers came into my home stinking of smoke, left a full bag of construction debris for me to haul away and when the project was "finished", they just left and waved at me as they pulled out of the driveway. No walk through or final inspection. Before they started, they told me that they did not need to remove the pantry door, but they removed it anyway and lost one hinge pin and stripped the screws out of another hinge on the same door. The company promises a final inspection and "10 Step Quality Assurance" plan. I was never given a final inspection and no one from the company could tell me what the 10 steps of their quality assurance plan are. After the finish was applied, I had a board bulge up and they acknowledged that it was due to their application of the finish combined with a cracked board that they would not take responsibility for. There was no cracked or warped board before they sanded, but they insisted that it was my fault since I owned the the floor and wanted to charge me for another re-sand and finish. I was astounded at this approach and the tone they took with me for even suggesting they correct the final condition of the floor I paid them to refinish. Again, this problem was not present before the refinish. Eventually, they offered to cover half of the product and labor which still was unacceptable to me. After more unprofessional and insulting discussion from the owner, Jason, they finally offered to fix the issue. They then sent me a contract offering to do the job on the condition that I no longer had warrantied work, that they weren't responsible for any further damage to my home, and that I was not allowed to provide any negative reviews online. That last part is actually illegal under the Consumer Review Fairness Act. When I indicated that I would not sign a contract that included an illegal practice, they called of the remedial work and said they were done with me. I have seen from other reviews on Yelp and Google that they have tried this same gag order tactic with other customers. If this happens to you, know that there is recourse with your State Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission and this practice should be reported and investigated.

Hired them again! First the floor upstairs and they did so good we hired them for the flooring in our kitchen. Now we hired them to replace our countertops with Quartzite. It looks amazing! They had to remove our old countertop and they were able to do it without hurting the tile backsplash even though it was on multiple sides of the counter. I can't say what a relief that was. Our home is a totally different place. It was so scary to make so many changes but they put a team together to help. Our Team: Paul (sales) was so fast to find us exactly what we wanted. Tara (Project Manager) coordinating a lot go make it happen! Sam / Salvador (installers) genius as I said and flawless work! Would hire these guys easily on our next project.

Do not use this company. Utah Flooring and Design began work installing an oak wood floor in our home almost a month ago. From the beginning they did not show up as scheduled. Initially, they didn't have enough wood for the delivery. Then they didn't deliver enough wood and tried to charge us for more wood (at a much higher price) because they said that they had measured wrong. The originial measurement was correct and they eventually removed that extra charge. When the floor finally was laid down, many pieces of the wood had holes in it, had broken corners, or were split. The filler that was used to patch the flooring did not match the wood. The result was disapointing and certainly not worth the $6000 we had contracted to pay for it. Since no one would answer our texts or phone calls, we drove to the Midvale office and convinced an employee there to send someone out to look at the floor. When the installer came back to mark the inferior pieces of wood, he said there was so many bad pieces that the whole floor would need to be replaced. We still have not resolved the issue. We had paid 50% down when we contracted with the company. They charged our credit card for the rest of the project on the day that they began the installation. We have disputed the credit card charge until the issue is resolved. Unfortunately, Amy, our project manager, does not answer our phone calls or texts. In the meantime, we have lived without our main living area since the middle of July and there is no sign of resolution.
