"Very professional, best price for the job, had many other quotes and they wanted to overcharge so much and did not listen to me as well as these guys did. End results are amazing, would recommend to anyone wanting updated inside doors or doors repaired."

"If you are at all like us, you tend to fix your fence and find every reason to avoid getting a new one. But once we saw the finished product on our neighbor -- how fast the workers tore down the old one, dug the post holes, put up the new one AND stained it-- our decision was made. Sure, there are many fence companies that can do this; but Stand Strong uses heavy, heavy material --cedar that is 3/4 for the boards, metal-reinforced gates, shadow-box styling (or whatever look you want), and the best pricing out of four fence company bids-- and the decision becomes an easy one. Add to all of this the professionalism and courtesy extended by owner Justin, and you have a superior end result that you would happily recommend to others. You will NOT be disappointed"

"Kayson built me a raised garden bed with a center block retaining wall and a wall around my hot tub. I was very happy with the work he did. He is very customer oriented, and made sure that the job met my expectations."

"The project turned out bigger than originally thought, but it looks incredible. The space is easier to use now, the new retaining wall is safer than before & neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. A big fan of the finished product! Will keep Jay Concrete & Construction in mind for my next project, on a different property."

"Joey and his team were nothing less than AMAZING. We had them do our vinyl fencing around our new build. They were so attentive, always on schedule, hard working and respectful. We were so satisfied with the way it turned out that we had them come back out and do our paver fire pit and the landscape for our backyard. I’m not one to usually write reviews but I had to come on and give props to Thunder Mountain Contractors! They are dedicated and always make sure you’re satisfied with their work before they leave. I will definitely be using them for every need in the future. Thanks again for helping us make our house a home!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

Standard post spacing for shadowbox fences is 6 to 8 feet. This spacing ensures proper support for the heavy weight of overlapping pickets and prevents sagging between posts. However, areas with high winds, slopes, or unstable soil conditions may require closer spacing.

When it comes to materials, wire fences are the cheapest option. The average cost for a 150-foot wire fence is $1,350. The next cheapest material is chain-link, followed by wood.

As far as the style of fence, smaller, less private fences are cheaper than large, elaborate fences that block your whole yard. That’s why split-rail fences are the cheapest option for wooden fences. They cost roughly $10 to $30 per linear foot.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

Yes, you can use a floor jack to remove fence posts. Attach a stem to the base of the fence post so you can position the floor jack underneath. The stem can be a scrap piece of wood attached with nails or a sturdy nail itself. Put the jack beneath the stem and push the lever to lift up on the fence post and remove it from the ground.
