"Very professional, best price for the job, had many other quotes and they wanted to overcharge so much and did not listen to me as well as these guys did. End results are amazing, would recommend to anyone wanting updated inside doors or doors repaired."

"If you are at all like us, you tend to fix your fence and find every reason to avoid getting a new one. But once we saw the finished product on our neighbor -- how fast the workers tore down the old one, dug the post holes, put up the new one AND stained it-- our decision was made. Sure, there are many fence companies that can do this; but Stand Strong uses heavy, heavy material --cedar that is 3/4 for the boards, metal-reinforced gates, shadow-box styling (or whatever look you want), and the best pricing out of four fence company bids-- and the decision becomes an easy one. Add to all of this the professionalism and courtesy extended by owner Justin, and you have a superior end result that you would happily recommend to others. You will NOT be disappointed"

"Kayson built me a raised garden bed with a center block retaining wall and a wall around my hot tub. I was very happy with the work he did. He is very customer oriented, and made sure that the job met my expectations."

"The project turned out bigger than originally thought, but it looks incredible. The space is easier to use now, the new retaining wall is safer than before & neighbors have commented on how nice it looks. A big fan of the finished product! Will keep Jay Concrete & Construction in mind for my next project, on a different property."

"Joey and his team were nothing less than AMAZING. We had them do our vinyl fencing around our new build. They were so attentive, always on schedule, hard working and respectful. We were so satisfied with the way it turned out that we had them come back out and do our paver fire pit and the landscape for our backyard. I’m not one to usually write reviews but I had to come on and give props to Thunder Mountain Contractors! They are dedicated and always make sure you’re satisfied with their work before they leave. I will definitely be using them for every need in the future. Thanks again for helping us make our house a home!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Knowing how close to the property line you can build a fence is an important planning step in your fence installation project. In many U.S. states, you are allowed to build a fence directly on the property line as long as your neighbor signs off on the plan. But check with your state government because some states and municipalities require a couple of inches before your property line.

If you have the time and the budget, we strongly recommend staining your fence, especially if it's looking a bit tired or hasn't been treated recently. While you may not see the same return on investment (ROI) as you would with a project like a kitchen remodel, staining a fence is one of the best ways to add a facelift to your property—a new fence stain adds serious curb appeal to your home.

Yes, installing wrought iron fencing will usually require a building permit, as do all types of fencing. Building permits for wrought iron fencing typically cost between $150 and $500, and the price will vary based on where you live and how much your local building department charges. You may also need to pay for a property survey if you’re installing wrought iron fencing on your property line. This type of survey can cost around $500, but it prevents issues with building on neighboring properties, which can be much more expensive in the long run.

Yes, installing a picket fence is a manageable DIY project for homeowners with basic tools and some patience. The process involves marking the fence line, digging post holes, setting the posts, and attaching horizontal rails and pickets. However, precision is key to ensure the fence is straight and sturdy, which can be challenging for beginners. If the fence line is long, the ground is uneven, or you’re working with more complex materials like metal or composite, hiring a pro may be a better option.

Wire fences are generally the most inexpensive type of farm fence to install, especially compared to lumber. Barbed wire is one of the cheapest options due to its simple materials, making it a good choice for low budgets and for confining docile animals in large spaces. Other options include hog wire and woven wire fences, which are strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair. While wire fences require less lumber and reduce overall project costs, they are often considered less aesthetically pleasing than traditional wood fences.
