"Lois Diaz with GM Handyman did a fantastic job refinishing our front door and the wood framing the side windows. He was careful and thorough and communicated clearly about steps involved in the process. I will hire him again and recommend his services to friends."

"Louis and Payton were amazing to work with on coordinating an aggressive schedule, remaining flexible with my landscaping needs, and working hard to complete everything as efficiently as possible. I found them on Angi and plan to work with them again whenever my next need may arise."

"Leslie was prompt in replying to our initial request for a bid (which is a LOT more than can be said a lot of landscapers!) and setting up an initial meeting to look at the property and review what we wanted and then get it scheduled. The crew not only showed up on the appointed day, but we got a call the day before, making sure we had the neighbor's permission to step onto their property to install the concrete barrier under the fence. During the entire project, they had to work around rain, but did come when they said they would be there when weather permitted. We were very pleased with the work they did, their flexibility when we changed our minds, as well as suggestions Fred made. With changes, it was more than the original bid, but we felt the price was very reasonable! We really enjoyed working with Fred and Leslie and their crew. We plan to use them again in the future when we are ready to tackle xeriscaping our front yard! We highly recommend them."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Before starting fencing projects in Ogden, gather your property survey to confirm boundaries and note any underground utility locations. Document soil type, slope, and existing landscaping, as these affect fence installation. Check local zoning and HOA guidelines for height and material restrictions. It’s also helpful to record any agreements with neighbors about shared fences and consider future landscaping or additions that may impact your fence.

Helpful?

Completing fencing projects in Ogden provides immediate privacy and security, which is especially valuable in neighborhoods with smaller lots. Over time, a well-installed residential fence can boost property value, reduce wind exposure during harsh winters, and help manage snow drifts. Fencing also helps protect gardens from local deer and wildlife, while enhancing curb appeal in Ogden’s historic and newer communities.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Ogden often underestimate the impact of local soil conditions, especially the clay-heavy ground that affects fence installation stability. Many overlook the need to verify property lines and the importance of marking underground utilities before starting fencing projects. Additionally, Ogden’s winter snow loads and wind exposure require reinforced posts and weather-resistant materials, which are frequently missed in early planning stages.

Helpful?

Ogden’s climate poses unique challenges for fencing projects, including heavy snow, freeze-thaw cycles, and strong winds. Fence posts must be set deep to prevent frost heave, and materials should withstand temperature swings and high UV exposure. Choosing vinyl, powder-coated steel, or properly sealed wood helps ensure your fence installation remains durable and attractive despite Ogden’s demanding weather conditions.

Helpful?

In Ogden, backyard perimeters often require fencing projects for privacy and pet containment, while front yards benefit from decorative fence installation to improve curb appeal and minimize street noise. Side yards may need attention for drainage and utility access, especially in older neighborhoods. Pool areas must meet UT safety standards, and gates or posts exposed to Ogden’s weather typically need regular maintenance.
