"We actually had our air vents and ducts cleaned. They were amazing and quick. They educated us about the ducts and the cleaning. Ben was nice, professional, and friendly. He went above and beyond to make sure that all our questions were answered. I am very happy with the service. He is going to help us get someone out to fix a few things with the HVAC system. I am beyond satisfied."

"Absolute Air (AA) is the second company I've had at the house and will be the first one I'll call the next time I need HVAC service. I've dealt with a zone damper problem for over two years that is finally fixed. However, I called (AA), because my AC stopped cooling correctly. They discussed my problem over the phone and gave me some troubleshooting ideas, after which I was able to fix the cooling problem immediately without cost or without having to endure a hot house in the middle of summer. They fixed my damper problem a couple of days later after getting the part. Caleb and Tom were great. It was obvious that they both cared about providing the best service possible."

"I finally have found an honest HVAC Company!! I had several other companies come to help me evaluate whether my AC could be fixed or get bids if I needed to get a new one. One said it couldn't be fixed so I needed a new AC; another said I needed a new AC AND a furnace; another said I need a new AC AND a water heater. Then my maintenance company technician showed up for the yearly check-up with a salesperson who wanted to sell me a unit because he said my unit was getting oldâ but neither the technician nor he had even checked it yet this year. Discouraged and not knowing which way to turn, I inquired of a trusted contractor if he knew of an honest HVAC company and was referred to Wright's Air Systems, a family owned and run business in Provo. He felt that Kelly Wright, the father, and his two sons were all honest businessmen. Jason Wright, a son, arrived the next day after my request for an appointment. After examining the system, he checked the AC levels and said he thought he could fix it for under $200. He acknowledged that it was getting older but that the whole system still appeared to be in good working condition, so with this bit of a fix, he felt it would be running at full capacity again. I had him fix it and it was like I had a new AC unit! He took time to answer all my questions and taught me what to look for to determine when to call for help. He was knowledgeable, patient and personable. I felt that he was fair with the pricing and that he was honest. In fact, he more than lived up to the referral I was given. Cheers to Wrightâ s Air Systems and Jacobâ ¦."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The average cost to replace or install a new HVAC system is around $7,500. However, the price can range from $5,000 to $12,500, depending on factors like the size of your home, the type and brand of the unit, and your specific heating and cooling needs. If you only need to replace certain components, the cost will be lower; for example, a new AC unit can cost between $2,200 and $5,500, while a new furnace costs $3,200 to $6,000. If additional work like new ductwork is required, the total cost could be as high as $22,000. It's best to contact a local HVAC company for an accurate quote.

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling. If you aren’t sure which type is in your home or are looking to install something different, you should consult an HVAC pro to determine which option is right for your heating and cooling needs.

If you know how to identify supply and return ducts, you’ll find that only the supply ducts will have dampers. Although your return ducts can have dampers, it’s not common. If you have one return duct that is pulling in too much air, adding a damper to it can help with overall system performance. However, dampers on return ducts are not a necessary addition for most homes.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.
