"Excellent service! Hardworking guys know their stuff, did a great job. Very knowledgeable not only about home-wide duct cleaning but also about issues with our HVAC system. Shot e-pics of supply & return air vents so we could clearly see before & after (dirty vs. clean). Worth every penny, too."

"I had Wasatch Heating & Air come to my home for a second opinion…. I had another “Big known name” come by to give me a bid, and their price floored me to say the least…. James came over that same day, explained thing much better, and why he was recommending the equipment he did. Then when he showed me the price of what he was recommending, I was thrilled to see that I was saving thousands of dollars, only paying 60% of what the big name company quoted….. The install was set for the next morning, and the guys showed up, did a great job. They showed great respect for me and my house, it was cleaner after they left, then before they got here… Thank you to James and the crew, Steven & Corey, for replacing my HVAC system and it’s now running great and much quieter then my old unit!!!!"

"Promptly confirmed appointment when our a/c died. Work completed the following morning. Fair price. Kind and considerate workers. The pilot went out on our water heater, so we had cold showers the next morning, they must have shut off the gas when replacing the furnace, but it was easy for me to get the pilot lit again."

"Adam and his team are the real deal. Thorough, honest, and genuinely great to work with — no upselling, no shortcuts, just solid HVAC work done right. He is the only one I will let work on my HVAC, and I regularly refer friends and family his way. Highly recommend."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s normal for an AC to drip water. In fact, it’s part of the dehumidifying process that takes place inside your AC unit as the condensation trickles down into the drain pan. However, it isn’t normal for your AC to sound like it’s running water or have large puddles around it. If that happens, you can try the solutions listed above or call an AC repair pro.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

Water buildup in your HVAC system is a cause for alarm. If water accumulates in your ductwork, it can drastically lower your home's air quality and create safety hazards. These risks include mold growth, damage to your HVAC system, and attracting pests that are seeking water into your ducts. Proper insulation and sealing of ducts can prevent this, and regular inspection and maintenance can address water damage problems before they become too severe.

You can buy a new AC capacitor through most big-box home improvement stores, from an HVAC contractor, or from the manufacturer. Use the model number of your air conditioning unit to make sure you purchase the right part for your unit. Also, keep in mind that the cost of this type of part can vary significantly depending on who you purchase it from, so shop around to get the best price.
