"Rodent control is expensive. They are competitive with the other companies. Their warranty was longer. It is a expensive service, but it seems to have worked."

"The pest control tech (Skyler) was very professional and thorough. He called 30 minutes ahead to inform me when he would be arriving. When the tech arrived, he explained exactly what he was going to do on my property. When he completed the service, 30 minutes later, he reported to me what he had done, shared some suggestions to control spiders this fall, and even took the initiative to ask if he could spray for spiders in our garage, which usually is not open. I have used Edge Pest Control for several years now. Every tech has been friendly, thorough, and professional. I highly recommend Edge Pest Control to anyone who wants their pest control service to be done right."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Preventing rats and mice from getting into the attic can be challenging, but it’s not impossible. Here are a few steps you can take to keep them looking elsewhere for a new place to call home:

  • Block or cover any potential access holes

  • Keep piles or stacks of firewood or other materials away from the house

  • Seal food and garbage in containers to prevent rodents from chewing through or getting in

Boric acid is among the harsher chemicals you can use in your home, and it poses risks whether ingested, inhaled, or touched. Kids and pets alike tend to put their hands and mouths on anything within reach, so it’s always a good idea to store boric acid in a spot they can’t get to and use it only when they’re not around for an extended period. When you use it, ensure they’re out of the house and fully clean up any trace of boric acid when you’re done because even a small amount can cause problems.

One of the most widespread chemicals used for killing termites is Fipronil. It’s one of the most common insecticides used by termite exterminators to kill termites fast. However, it’s toxic and generally used in outdoor areas only. Popular brand names of termite killers include Taurus, Bifen, Termidor, and BioAdvanced. All insecticides have pros and cons: Some are safer around humans but don’t last as long. Some may kill nearby plants or have power odors. Some are designed for safe indoor bait stations but take much longer to work.

There are some clear signs of a termite infestation, including damaged drywall, bubbling under paint, peeling paint, sagging or loose boards, and more. Termites typically leave behind a trail on the surface and interior of your drywall as they chew through it. Look for small, pin-sized holes in drywall or wallpaper to determine whether termites have made their way inside.

A spider infestation happens when an unusually high and problematic presence of spiders occurs in a home to the point it becomes disruptive or poses a significant nuisance. If you notice an increase in spider sightings, numerous webs throughout the home, or see multiple spiders daily, it's likely you have an infestation. In cases where the types of spiders seen are venomous or medically significant species are present, the number of spiders is insignificant and would require pest control measures. On average, pest control costs between $300 to $550 for one-time service.
