"Bill was great! He was able to build our home within 6 months, which was amazing! He was very organized and very good with communicating with us throughout the entire process. He was able to save us 15k through certain design choices! He is definitely the guy to go to to get the job done. The house looks amazing and have been in it for almost 4 months now and we love it."

"Such a great experience and so easy for us! We had Jones Construction install some glass doors on our office. Henry was very thorough! He ended up saving us a little money by making a little bit more work for himself and figuring out how to install the doors without taking out the existing trim work! He knew we'd be painting the doors ourselves so they did a little extra prep work to make it easier for us! So happy, beautiful finished product!"

"Landen went above and beyond on my project and made sure that the value of the product he was producing for me was top of the line, he was extremely clean and tidy with all of the material and working areas, he took those extra steps in his process that often times get overlooked by other general contractors. He made sure all my needs and wants were met and provided educated support throughout the entire process. Landen was genuinely interested in what would work best for us and not what was easiest or most profitable. His communication was amazing throughout the project and was always quick to respond at a moments notice. I look forward to working with this company again!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

A contract should outline the scope of work, timelines, costs, payment schedule, and materials used for clarity and protection.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

Before hiring a carpenter, the most important thing is to make sure they are properly qualified and insured for the job. It’s more than reasonable to ask your prospective carpenter for customer references, as well as about their licensing and insurance. You should also consider choosing a carpenter that specializes in your specific project area to ensure high-quality results.
