"Mad Roofing did a great job. We were swindled by another roofing company and Mad Roofing came in and finished the house, as well as a detached garage in one day. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of, knowing what a horrible experience we had just gone thru. They were reasonably priced and payment was not due until the roof was finished, inspected and we were happy with their work. The roof looks great. Conrad and Matt are easy to work with and kept in touch with us every step of the way. I highly recommend MAD Roofing."

Small jobs welcome

"Aspen Roofing installed a high quality underlayment and a strong, new metal roof over the large parking structure and two small garages at our cabin at 8,200 ft in Tollgate Canyon. They were easy to work with. The quality of their work is top notch. The roof is now in its second winter with no leaks. I am confident this roof will last for decades with no leaks despite heavy winter snowfalls and extreme temperature variations. I sleep well at night thinking about the quality of this roof."

"John inpected our roof for hail damage from a recent storm. He was able to work with our insurance company to get full roof replacement coverage. John and his crew were prompt, courteous and professional. Unlike other contactors, John was up on the roof working with and supervising his crew. Job site cleaned up very well."

"Even if you do not follow through and purchase their caulking, insulation, and other services, Greenify's $50 audit is an excellent deal, because it gives a detailed summary of sources of air leaks. We had previously installed new roof, windows, and doors, but Greenify's whole-house fan-in-door with air flow measurement found lots of remaining air leaks around fireplace, flue pipe, baseboards, etc. Wyck, the owner, was very thorough in scheduling the insulation subcontractor and in cleaning up after they left. He re-ran the air flow test after the work was completed to verify the reduction in undesired air flow.

"I had several companies approach me about replacing my roof after hail damage. I chose to find my own company and happened upon Too Deep Construction. I found David and his company organized, service oriented and dedicated do doing an excellent job. My roof was completed in 1 1/2 days and I found his crew to be hard workers. David closely supervised the project and was not satisfied the job was completed until I was able to sign off on it. I have never worked with a better company."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Roof blistering and hail damage are different in their physical appearance. Blistering, often caused by inadequate ventilation, low-quality material, and improper installation, looks like large, irregular bubbles popping out of your roof. Meanwhile, hail damage is usually circular or oval dents entering your roof and often follows the same path as the hail storm.

Properly maintained roof decking can last between 20 and 30 years on average, though it varies based on a few factors. Mainly, the quality of roof decking materials and environmental conditions have the most impact on longevity. You can extend its lifespan by regularly inspecting your roof and making repairs as necessary.

Once framing is complete, you will need the following materials to roof a house:

  • Wood sheathing

  • Drip edge, a.k.a metal flashing

  • Underlayment for waterproofing

  • Roof covering, like metal or asphalt shingles

While the terms are often used interchangeably, wood shakes and wood shingles have notable differences, primarily in their manufacturing and appearance. Wood shingles are machine-cut on both sides, resulting in a smooth, thin, and uniform product. In contrast, wood shakes are typically hand-split or sawed on only one side, giving them a more textured, natural, and rustic appearance. Due to these manufacturing differences, shakes are generally thicker, heavier, and less uniform than shingles. They are also more expensive. Homeowners seeking a more rustic aesthetic often choose shakes, while those preferring a more uniform look may opt for shingles. Both are installed in an overlapping pattern to create a durable, weather-resistant roof.

Yes, clay and concrete tile roofs will keep your home cooler in the summer for two reasons. First, the material has low heat conductivity, so heat transfer from the sunlight and the outside air to your home will be very slow. Additionally, tile roofs have air gaps between the tiles and the roof decking, which helps further insulate your structure from heat gain. Light-colored tile is especially energy-efficient and will minimize how much outside heat transfers into your home.
