"Andrew was very friendly and knowable. He took the time to explain the different options I had for doing my roof. He even made a special trip with sample colors. Connor (office manager) was very thorough and supplied me with all pictures and documentation needed to work with my insurance. Their prices were right in line with my insurance adjuster. MAD Roofing was dependable, fast and efficient. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family."

"I highly recommend this incredible company! David Johnson and his team did an amazing job replacing our roof, gutters, and siding on the back of our house after the destructive windstorm this year. They were all professional, reliable, and completed all of the work within a few days. They started on the roof at 7:00 am and had it cleaned up, and finished by 2:00 pm that very same day. My hats off to this wonderful and hard-working team/company. Thank you SO much for all of your hard work. My house looks amazing!"

"The cost was a little more than the others but the quality of workmanship and the materials are superior to the others. They did my roof the right way and had to fix the mess made of my roof by the last roofer cutting corners and costs I'm sure. You get what you pay for and when you want your roof to last 30 years because it was done the right way with superior materials this is the company you want to go with. I highly recommend this company. Oh and I have a 20 year guarantee in righting on top of it all."

"Painless and Perfect A couple of months ago we had a horrible storm blow through our town with high winds and large hail. We are an older couple and checked around the house and saw a couple of tiles in the yard, but we werenâ t too worried. A nice fellow came to our door a couple of days later and offered a free inspection of our roof. He said that if it needed a repair, they would be happy to help us out. When their sales guy came to inspect our roof, we were shocked at the damage he found! He offered not only to place the claim with our insurance but to work with them in our behalf. Before we knew it we had a beautiful new roof that will last longer than we will need it. Their crew worked so fast it was done in a day. There were respectful of our property and of us. All in all I recommend them very highly."

"We are very happy with the work that Vantage Point Roofing did for us. Jacob was very knowledgeable and helpful with our small project to reseal the drip edge on our roof. He also looked around and took care of other potential problem areas for us. I highly recommend Vantage Point and will call him anytime we have roof problems in the future."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to install your chimney cap in some areas, but it’s usually better to hire a professional. Before you attempt a DIY chimney cap installation, check to see if your local building department requires a permit. If it does, you should hire a professional to pull the permit and complete the work for you. Even if you don’t need a permit, getting up on your roof is dangerous, especially if you have an aggressive pitch or slippery roof material, like metal. Hiring a chimney professional guarantees the job is done correctly and keeps you safe from injury.

Manufacturers, insurance companies, and municipality regulations are phasing out three-tab shingles. Because of their short lifespan and lack of durability compared to other roofing material types, manufacturers are leaning toward better products, and cities and insurers are starting to require better building materials overall. However, 3-tab shingles are still for sale, and some roofing companies still install them.

Sticky shoes help, but you shouldn't be walking on the steel roof— let the pros do that. it's dangerous enough to walk on asphalt shingled roofs which have quite a bit of texture. Stone coating adds a lot of grip, but it still doesn't lock your foot down, so if you absolutely have to be on the roof, make sure you’re secured in another way, like with the harness and rope.

No, there’s no specific building code that requires a roof overhang. However, installing your roof with the standard 2-inch overhang is good practice, as it helps direct runoff away from your fascia boards and roof decking and into your gutters. Some overhang is especially important in areas that see heavy rainfall and snowfall, as the risk of water getting under the roofing material and causing water damage is much higher.

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.
