"I recommend this company, have reservations about doing so. He seemed quite competent and had years of experience in a number of areas. However, an interesting thing occurred regarding his inspection of gas line emissions. He claimed there was a gas leak in the home but couldn't pin point it. And supposed his nephew could smell it and was very sensitive to gas. His detector would sound an alarm indicating it was picking up gas emissions. The gas company was contacted and responded shortly after the inspector left. That company professional did a thorough inspection and found no gas leakage at all, and provided a signed report. His assessment- his detectors cost $5,000 but home inspectors typically use very cheap units in the range of $500 or so. The professional stated, quote "those cheap detection units can be set off by bad breath or a fart", and are often not calibrated properly. Given this I seriously doubt if the inspector's nephew is so sensitive to gas. Probably psychosomatic, and just power of suggestion. Now, it of course is much better to claim a gas leak and have none, than to not find a leak when there is one. Other than this the inspector seemed quite competent and professional, but the home was in very good condition and a relatively easy job."
