"Josh is a great handyman. Not only does he do quality work, but he is professional, meticulous and courteous. The doors look great and he was respectful and cleaned up after himself. I will be hiring him again in the furore for other upgrades to my property."

"Awesome work was done by owner of the company who took care with keeping things clean. Went out of his way to clean and paint registers so that they looked like new! He was exactly on time and finished in good time. We will definitely hire him again and highly recommend him to others!"

"I would like to highly recommend Air Rx for the outstanding job they did at our home. Justin, the Air Rx technician, arrived on time and quickly assessed the tasks for him to complete. First, he meticulously cleaned the dryer vent. Next, Justin removed all the air registers, cleaning them until they looked brand new. With the registers removed, he was able to use a large vacuum to reach into the air ducts. Those ducts were sprayed with a cleaner and the unit itself distributed a fine mist throughout the entire system to treat mold, dust and other allergens. When all the duct cleaning was done, Justin vacuumed our entire home to remove the debris that had fallen out during the cleaning process. While he was here, I asked him if he could help us with replacing the original air return register, which is old and battered. He measured the opening, called his boss, who delivered it, and it was installed, too. We have asked our A/C company at least four times for help with how and where to get it replaced since it is an odd size. This is a first rate company!"

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Call 911 immediately. If you have a fire extinguisher or fire blanket near the laundry room, you can attempt to extinguish the fire, but don’t open or touch the dryer. If you can’t put the fire out, evacuate yourself, your family, and your pets from the house, closing the laundry room door behind you. Turn off the electricity to your home via the outside fuse box, then wait for the fire department. After a dryer fire, have your home’s electrical system inspected to make sure there isn’t any damage.

While maintaining a clean dryer vent is crucial for your household’s safety, a professional dryer vent cleaning service will do the trick, and replacing the vent isn’t usually necessary. Provided you don’t see any kinks in your vent or damage to the exterior, a cleaning will maintain your home’s safety and will cost you less than a full replacement. You’ll spend an average of $150 on dryer vent cleaning, while a replacement will cost about $225, and both will yield more or less the same result.

It’s possible to clean your dryer vent yourself in most cases, but it’s usually best to leave this important task to a professional. If you make a mistake when reinstalling the vent, you could kink it, which makes it easier for a blockage to form. Instead, call in a professional annually to do a thorough cleaning and an inspection. They will make sure there are no kinks in the vent that could promote blockages in addition to cleaning it. If your vent runs through a wall, you’ll need help from a professional regardless.

While a professional can always help, there are some common plumbing culprits you can check yourself to see if you can find the sewer gas smell. For example, you should check your water traps, sometimes called P-traps and S-traps, which are located under sink, shower, and laundry drains. The wax ring beneath the base of your toilet, which creates a watertight seal with the plumbing, could also have gone bad.

Excessive humidity in a room often manifests through visible signs like condensation on windows or walls, a musty or damp odor lingering in the air, peeling wallpaper or paint, and the presence of mold or mildew. Experiencing discomfort due to a consistently clammy or sticky feeling can also indicate high humidity levels.
