"Lon Pinckard just finished a big job for me. I couldn't be more pleased. Drainage, driveway, fence, replace railroad tie retaining wall with stone, flagstone patios, and landscape all around. Lon and Sandy (landscape architect) were involved each step of the way, and made sure the job was completed to our satisfaction. He and his team are excellent."

Customers say: Quality work

"I contacted numerous landscapers for estimates and ideas. Out of the five contacted, three showed up for the appt., one never returned my call on his estimate that I liked, one was way overpriced for the work and then their was Mike. Mike listened to our problems and desires and created a design that not only brought in natives plants, removed all grass areas but also corrected a water run-off problem when rains were heavy that was perpetuated from my neighbors pool. Additionally as we worked through the job he improved my desires and suggested alternatives that were put into place and were well thought out and now show a better appeal.

The work took a little over two weeks to complete due to the extensive effort. The crew was professional, work long days and everyday during this period. The boulders lining the drive river bed ranged from 200lbs up to 800+lbs.

After completion of the job we discovered two months later, the run-off of the neighbors water was higher than initially thought and washed out sections of the path running along the dry river bed. Mike came back out re-designed the river bed by running an additional branch from higher on the property into the lower river bed using same materials as the lower river bed. This was done at no additional costs as Mike explained he promised no water run-off problems.  At this time he not only replaced plants that had died but also supplemented additional plants  at no costs.

This spring I contacted Mike for maintenance of the back yard. This included re-mulching the back yard and adding plants. This was at an additional very reasonable cost that was expected. My backyard like most other Texas earth is comprised of clay soil and the hardwood mulch that is being used in slowly reconditioning the soil through decomposition. The costs was far below what I would have spent on my own to do, saved me two weekends of labor (his crew did it in 8 hours) and continued the beautification of the back yard.

I highly recommend anyone who is looking for landscaping work to contact Mike for ideas and an estimate. He was very communicative during the entire process of the initial install, follow-up questions and needs. He also fully explained each plant and how to care for the entire yard in order for the plants to take hold. His willingness to listen to your needs and transform them into real experience is amazing. He goes beyond your expectation, providing value beyond what you thought.

In the past I periodically only used my rear patio but now it is an evening ritual so to unwind from the day's work immensely enjoying my "new" backyard. It was well worth the cost.

"Nathaniel did a great job on replacing the sod in my front yard with Zeon Zoysia. He gave me specific instructions on the care. It is beautiful! He also put some rock in an area in my back yard where I could not grow anything because it has too much shade. Great professional great job!"

"I received an estimate for the original quote of adding sod to my backyard. Before he left I discovered the company did a multitude of things revolving around landscaping. In the end I hired the company to the a landscape design to my front yard. The initial project will be placed on hold. I was very pleased with the outcome of the design and their customer service."

"The salesman sold us on a job that was not what he sold. The job started a day late, took 1 1//2 days longer and almost went over the weekend with 11 holes surrounding my house. Most of the crew were very hard workers but a few liked to take long breaks, sitting in our outside rocking chairs leaving chicken bones for our dog to choke on. I was to told that when they left, I would be left with a foot high wall of dirt/concrete surrounding 3 sides of my house. The hoses that were dug in the patios were filled quickly at the very end of the job and dried uneven and look sloppy. I had to call 3 times to get someone to come back out to fix the cracks in the outside walls as promised by the salesman. I was told that there would be a job foreman visiting at least once a day and would keep me updated on the progress. I saw him once, the very last day to get the check for the job."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A deck is typically attached to a house and accessed via the back door. Decks are usually constructed from wood or composite materials. A terrace, on the other hand, is a raised platform that can be attached to or detached from the house and is typically made from a hard-paved material, such as paving stones. Terraces can be built on the ground or on the roof of a home.

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

If you’re trying to decide between a sunroom and a screened-in porch, the right choice will depend on your priorities. A screened-in porch costs only a fraction of the price of a sunroom, but in exchange, it has much more limited use. A sunroom will add more value to your home, but at a much higher up-front cost and longer construction timeline.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.
