"Dylan, Javier and O.J. did an outstanding job. Dylan performed the inspection and provided me a free estimate. I decided on the spot to sign a contract to repair my in-ground pool cool deck. Javier and O.J performed the work. Completed in one day. Can't say enough about these consummate professionals. Thank-you."

"Collier and Cruz did a great job leveling my driveway and pool deck patio as well as sealing concrete joints. Very professional and personable. Explained the process and goals very clearly and made sure we were satisfied with work before leaving. I highly recommend Groundworks and I would request Collier and Cruz !"

"Fernando, his son Frankie, and Jeb Kraft (substituting for a vacationing crew member) were excellent. Their experience, work ethic, and attitude were outstanding. Every issue that arose as they repaired work another company did several years ago was solved by Fernando. He always provided several options and we selected the best one for the situation. Because Fernando hand-dug the needed holes and trenches he had no problem when he encountered the main electric line several feet from where 811 had marked it."

"The Basement Kings finished their LARGE job this morning, and I can’t praise them enough! They had a long, difficult job, but no complaints. When they discovered a problem, they fixed it. No problem, that’s their job. They found the water problem had a lot to do with drainage, so they worked outside in cold & rain & developed a system to carry water away from the house. That, to me, was over & above, but they said their main objective was to get & keep the basement dry, so they did what they had to do with no complaints. Now you can’t ask for better than that - they give their all! I am totally amazed!!"

"Came to give estimate when scheduled, was able to give several suggestions; while at our house, called a couple concrete providers to know exactly what was available, stopped by about a week later with two estimates doing the job two different ways.  Even though we did not make up our minds for several weeks, he honored his original estimate, set up the start date, did not require any money up front, only when half completed and then the remainder a week after completion to be sure everything was satisfactory. Job was done exactly as we envisioned with no hitches. He subsequently helped us very reasonably with equipment for another landscape project "

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Most states and municipalities don’t require concrete mudjacking companies to carry a specific license, but they usually need to have a general contractor’s license, and they should be fully insured. The only exception is if the mudjacking company provides foundation repairs as well, or if it offers mudjacking for home foundations. In that case, they will typically need a foundation repair contractor’s license. You can check state requirements and then use Angi’s license lookup tool to confirm that a company is properly licensed to provide mudjacking services in your area.

Mudjacking is suitable for sidewalks, driveways, patios, and nearly all exterior flat structures. However, it may not suit severely damaged or heavily cracked areas.

A slurry of cement, sand, and water is injected beneath the concrete to lift and stabilize it.
