Russell's Landscape & Tree Service

I hired Mr. Russell to trim two tall oak trees that are in front of my home. He arrived with helpers as scheduled and did a really nice job. I wanted all the extra growth shoots removed up to the high canopy and a few larger branches overhanging the street removed and the guys did exactly as I asked. I'm very happy with how the trees look now. The cut pieces were stacked on the median for brush pickup. The price was very reasonable so I am writing this review to say thanks for doing a good job for a reasonable price.

I was impressed with how fast he contacted me and came out to my property to talk about what I wanted to have done and to talk about price. He was professional and told me that he was going to go to home depot when he left my house to price materials and he would get back with me later that evening. I did not hear from him that evening and actually still have not heard from him to this day.

We have used this company several times. He is reasonably priced, always gets back with us as soon as possible and does a very good job, and cleans up afterwards. On this occasion that we used him he trimmed a large tree that had grown up onto our roof and over to our neighbours also. He trimmed the tree very nicely and it's never looked better. He even got up on the roof and swept it off where there was tree debris. Soon as I can I am going to have him come do a couple more things.

We contracted with him to re landscape our backyard due to flooding. Our goal was not aesthetic, it was to prevent the house from flooding. This was made clear to him prior to the work beginning, he was instructed to regrade and move dirt as needed to prevent flooding prior to laying the new grass.
He agreed and said he would complete the work requested and guaranteed us there would be no  more flooding issues in the backyard.  A week after the work was completed we had a moderate rain storm and we experienced flooded in the house from the backyard.  we attempted to contact him and he never return our phone calls.  We found out from a home adjuster that he did not remove the dirt correctly, below the foundation which allowed the water to come into the house.

In conclusion, it appears that Mr. Russell is not reliable and unwilling or unable to return calls or follow through with a routine business transaction. I can certainly understand if something came up or if there were some other issue. However, simply backing out after he agreed to the job and completely failing to even return calls is just unacceptable. I would certainly never use this service in the future.

I called Wilbur Russell on a Monday and he came the next day to give me an estimate for everything I needed done. I had just moved into this house about 4 months ago and the back yard was a disaster! My house sits on a hill so the previous owner just had rocks covered by mulch. The rocks were so deep I could not even plant anything. I was so frustrated because I could not figure out how to get around the rocks without completely digging them all out and hauling in new dirt.

Wilbur suggested building a retaining wall with existing bricks and then just putting 2 yards of good top soil over the rocks and then resodding the rest of the yard.

I was really excited about this idea so I searched on Pinterest for ideas then consulted with Russell on the feasibility of what I wanted. He came the following week with a crew of 4 and in 1 day completely transformed my yard by making a beautiful sloped flowerbed with assorted plants, flowers, rocks and mulch. He then raised the canopy and trimmed a huge Hackberry tree and laid 2 pallets of sod.

I LOVE my backyard now and am not embarrassed to show it off. I highly recommend Russell Landscaping and Tree Service!

I/we were very pleased with Wilbur Russell. Had called a few landscapers around the Corpus area, but no one and quot;hit the nail on the headand quot; until Wilbur showed up. We had changed and landscaped our backyard for years, but now, after installing a swimming pool, did not want to constantly mow around the pool. Wilbur suggested laying river rock around the stamped concrete which ran all around the pool, and adding a few more tropical plants to the ones we had already.

He came with a crew of six, and immediately went to work, completing the task at hand in a very timely manner. Everything was cleaned up and left very tidy.

He then placed some boulders around the river rock, which complimented the yard that much more, and suggested placing some solar spot lights around the boulders and tropical plants. Well, that was the cat's meow---it looks so very professional now, and we never have to worry about mowing around our pool again. Did I mention that he and crew trimmed the tropical plants I already had growing, and we never knew they could look that good.

Wilbur is very intuitive to your needs, and very personable. You will not be disappointed in hiring this company to do your landscaping and tree/yard projects.

He came the night we called to give us an estimate to remove two large oak trees. He said he could start tomorrow. He showed up at 9am like he said with a crew of about 4 guys. They got right to work the cut down and hauled off the two trees. They also grounded down the roots. They did a great job!

I am on a tight budget but I had large oaks in front that were badly in need of trimming and one large Inocqua tree next to the house that had roots that were damaging the slab foundation and we needed it taken out. I found Wilbur Russell by searching on Angieslist for a tree service provider and all I can say is that it just couldn't have gone better. This man is a real worker and he has a very capable and hard working helper. The two oak trees they trimmed are about twenty feet high, maybe higher, and they were totally overgrown and there was lots of work involved. They did both for an amazing price and the work was absolutely beautiful. It's amazing how much this one job did to improve the look of the front yard. Then there was an Inocqua tree growing next to our foundation, within eight feet of it, and it was sending out roots that were cracking our slab. This was a very large tree, at least twenty feet tall and its a very hard wood and the tree has lots of twisting branches that intertwine so taking it out was no small job. My TOTAL bill for these services was $400. I think Mr. Russell may have given me an extra low price because I explained my situation to him and it's pretty dire. I also needed the stump of the Inocqua tree ground down to six inches below ground level. It was a wide stump and very hard wood. Mr. Russell has a guy that has a huge stump grinding machine and he got the job done for $100, which is less than anyone else would have done it for, I'm pretty sure. Mr. Russell's listing is not at the top when you search Angieslist, but if my experience with him is typical, it ought to be. He probably saved me $300 and the work couldn't be better. They also stacked the cuttings very well on the median. The city picks up for me next week. GREAT job, Mr. Russell. Thank you.

Mr. Russell and his workers did an excellent job. He showed up in two days, as promised, and completed the job in one day, also as promised. He did a very thorough and professional job. I would hire him again for a similar lawn and trimming project.

The following day he called me back and he came out to my property to view the job. He said he would charge me $375.00 for his labour and the actual cost of materials which was about $300.00. I agreed to his proposal and we agreed he would do the work on 5/8/2012 starting at 10:30 AM. He and his two assistants arrived on time and promptly proceeded to do the work. He and his crew were very professional and amicable. They worked very hard and seemed to enjoy what they did for a living, and took pride in their work. Before beginning the work, Wilbur clearly explained to me what he would be doing and answered all my questions. And throughout the project he periodically updated on his progress. When he completed the job, he reviewed with me what he did and asked if it was to my liking to which I responded I was very happy with his work. He had removed and hauled off all the old stuff and left the work site very clean. Then I wrote him a check to pay him for his work. He was very grateful for my business, and I also thanked him again for doing a great job for me and told him that I would recommend him for his services and use him again if I required his lanscaping and tree trimming services in the future. He and his crew completed the work in under five hours.
