"Choice responded quickly but the insurance plan does not pay for all doors to be re-keyed unless you have very few locks. The number of locks covered by the insurance is determined by keyholes, not doors! (Read your policy!) You will likely have to shell out some money to have this essential new-home service if you have more than four keyholes. The locksmith they called was EXCELLENT and made all our locks completely functional. We will happily hire the locksmith again (R.L Locksmith LLC). We paid $201.81 (plus another $50 for some door re-alignment not included in the re-keying benefit) and Choice paid $100 for the job."

TFB, Inc. is a new company (as of January 2002 ) with a new process. We have assembled a team of professionals in the field of residential and commercial structures with 100+ years of combined background in Indoor Air Quality, Real Estate, Insurance Adjusting, Construction and Bio-Science. We offer complete rebuilding and remodeling services with a specialty in restoring damage from mold, foundation damage, water and fire damage. \n\nFor Instance, no other company has our Rx4MOLD Dry Ice Blasting process for dealing with toxic mold and other biological contaminants. No other company can assert that they can do your remediation job 20% less than anyone else's bid. \n\nDry Ice Blasting is part of a new cryogenic process for bio-sterilization unique to our company . We provide the service; we sell licenses to carefully selected providers who can qualify for certification in the Rx4MOLD regimen. And we provide training and support to them. (See an animated demonstration of the Rx4MOLD patented system at www.Rx4MOLD.com.) \n\nTFB can promise you less time locked out of your house/building during mold/bio-toxin sterilization. Our process is less destructive. Less destruction means that our method is cheaper than any of our competitors. There is less to build back - less ALE (Aleternate Living Expense) for your insurance company OR FOR YOU! \n\nOne hundred percent of the buildings we have sterilized have passed independent engineer certification the FIRST time. That is not always the case even for the best of our competitors. It may not always be because we are better contractors - there are many excellent firms. But our PROCESS just cannot be beat for price, speed, thoroughness and reliability.. \n\nWe are able to do turnkey work in all areas of building, rebuilding and remodeling with the same skill and expertise that makes us stand out in the Indoor Air Quality business. \n\nThank you for the opportunity to meet you and serve you. \n\nMarc S. Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Changing door locks is a task that most homeowners can accomplish on their own. Standard door knobs are quite straightforward, and even more advanced locks, like electronic or smart locks, generally come with instructions. That said, the process can be time-consuming, especially if you plan to replace multiple locks around the house. It’s also a task that you want to complete correctly, considering that it affects the security of your house. That’s why hiring a pro is often best when changing your door locks.

Yes, most pros encourage you to change your locks when you move into a new home. While the previous owner may hand you their keys, you have no way of knowing whether other copies exist elsewhere. Changing your locks as soon as you move in is a great way to ensure that you can enjoy new, fully functioning locks that will work with your unique key or code.

Yes, as long as it’s thick enough for the deadbolt. Most interior hollow core doors are at least 1 1/2-inches thick, which is usually the minimum requirement for a deadbolt. You’ll want to find the lock block first before installing. Also, most hollow doors require additional reinforcement for locks, such as a reinforcement plate or plywood block.

Rekeying is typically cheaper than replacing locks. Professional rekeying costs between $40 and $160, sometimes with an additional fee of $15 to $40 per lock. A locksmith's hourly rate averages around $75. If you do it yourself, a rekeying kit can cost as little as $10. In contrast, replacing a lock costs between $130 and $500, with an average of around $315, depending on the hardware and lock type. Rekeying is a simpler process that changes the key for your existing lock without replacing the hardware. It is a good option if you have a quality lock that works well, you've recently moved, you've lost a key, or you need a quick security upgrade. The best choice depends on the condition of your current locks.

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.
