"We had a very windy thunderstorm which split the trunk vertically leaving large branches hanging over the street and sidewalk ready to fall if we got another strong wind. I went to Home Advisor and placed an emergency request for a quote from a tree service company, asap. I received a call from Antonio within seven to ten minutes and he was at my house about forty minutes later. After agreeing on a price Antonio and his crews showed up at 8:30 the next morning cut down the old tree and removed the stump and hauled away everything from our yard. They worked very efficiently together and I was impressed with how they handled what could have been a dangerous situation. I'll be recommending AP Tree services to anyone mentioning tree issues for sure!"

"SOMETIME THE HIGHEST BIDDER WINS - Here is why. I just had some tree work done. A lot of tree work actually. I had decided to put it off for one more year, but the Silver Maple which does not last more than about 20 years in Houston climate, was dying. The final straw was the day I came home from church and a 25-30 ft limb broke off the tree, falling in to my driveway, nearly missing my wifes convertible VW Beetle, "The Lady Bug". If it had hit her "toy" ; that would have been very bad. I immediately reached out to 4 companies for bids. Coincidentally a young man came to my door that day soliciting tree work. We walked the property and talked about what I needed and he told me he would email me an estimate. Over the next week, two other companies come and give me quotes. Two of the companies I contacted never showed or followed up so they were out. I told each vendor that I was getting bids and I would not be deciding for a week or so and because I was in the middle of a political campaign, I would not be getting the work done until after the election. Here is where the difference comes in. One company handed me a hand written quote which was actually just a price for the entire job with no detail. The second company emailed their estimate and it was itemized and at a very reasonable price. The Outdoor Pros email their itemized bid, a picture of the Home Advisor award patches, a copy of their liability insurance certificate, their taxpayer id W9 showing that they were legitimate, and a copy of an addition bond coverage by a Surety company. The next thing they did was so important. They followed up. They sent me a thank you note when I confirmed the receipt of their bid. Their sales rep, Marlon Mancilla reached out to me on election day to wish me good luck in my campaign and expressed his hope that they could earn my business. I had told him, I would review the bids by the end of that week. The Outdoor Pros were the highest bid I recieved; 24% higher than the lowest bid. but I was in business for 30+ years and know the difference between price and value. So far they had shown the most sincere desire to gain my business. Still, the three bids covered quite a range so I decided if they could come down to the average of the three bids, I would give them my business. They agreed, and I am glad they did. They did everything that was on the bid and more. And they did it all in one day, Which was really quite impressive. Their equipment appeared well maintained and in very good repair. The foreman kept in contact with me throughout the day to be sure that the details of each tree and bush were exactly as I wanted. The entire crew was well coordinated and very efficient. Marlon followed up at the end of the day to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. They say the true measure of a company is it's people. The Outdoor Pros have great people. They promised a lot and deliver even more. I highly recommend the Outdoor Pros and especially thank Marlon Mancilla for a job well done. Phil Kurtz, 2020 Libertarian Candidate for US House of Representative Texas Congressional District 29 ps: I lost the election but found a great outdoor services company!"

"Thanks for the work that was done on my trees. The guys showed up and after a brief conversation reiterating what was to be done, they got to work. They were quick, professional and did exactly what was needed. Once they were done, they chipped it all up, cleaned up the brush and left the yard looking better than they found it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would most definitely recommend Mia tree service to anyone needing tree work.""

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

A grafted tree is a tree grown by combining two trees. It takes expertise. Branches from grafted trees don’t grow strong roots. Save yourself the time and frustration by having an arborist help you with this advanced project.

You can often tell if a tree is grafted because it will have a noticeable line. Above the line, the bark will look different than it does below the line. It’s most common with fruit trees.
