"We had several jobs done by professional carpet expert Travis. Our carpet looks new as well as our sofas and lazy boy recliner. My ceramic tile floor sparkles like new. I am so grateful to have located Matthew the owner of Ace Carpet Cleaning. Matt & Travis are very professional Christian young men who truly care about doing a great job for their customers. Wanting to please their customers is their goal while doing their job. I definitely will be a return customer! ?"

"Their quality of work is excellent. They person showed, removed and disposed of our old carpet and removed all the debris left under the carpet by the original builder. We could barely tell where the carpet was cut to transition from one location to the next."

"Mr. King was more expensive than all of the others that I got a quote from. But I will say after his initial quote we were able to omit a few things and get the price lower. It was very hard convincing my husband that this cleaning could cost so much. But I felt very secure in Mr. Kind's professionalism and the history of his company. I will say some of the folks who came by to give me a quote were not exactly what I expected to be promoted by Angie's List. This was my first time to use Angie's List by the way. I felt like Mr. King knew his business and would do an excellent job. So far my rugs and carpet look terrific. I will know more after they are dry. The den rug looks new. I would definitely recommend Mr. King's company to anyone."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Experts advise that replacing carpeting can bring a 50% to 80% return on investment. However, new carpeting doesn’t necessarily add value to your overall home value. Because flooring value heavily depends on taste, it can be tricky to determine whether new carpet will increase your home sale price. Carpeting tends to be a renovation that increases overall comfort and aesthetics for your home, but it’s not a big factor in value.

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

There are a couple of color options to consider when installing carpet in high-traffic areas (like entrances and stairways). Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Dark carpets will also conceal marks and spills, but they show lint and other light-colored debris. Consider a medium brown or tan for your high-traffic areas. Either way, it’s best to avoid paler shades, like white and cream, which get dirty easily.
