"Green Quality Air provides excellent service. They did such a good job cleaning and repairing our fireplace that we also had them clean out our dryer vent that goes up two stories. Chris and Leslie are professional and thorough. Highly recommend!"

"A previous review was negative because of a misunderstanding regarding the billing. I was told the visit would be FREE because the first two appointments were not kept. The first appointment was excusable because of an injury to a worker. The second appointment was also not kept and i was not notified. When I received the bill, I asked what was FREE as the total bill was $416.76. A further review of the bill shows a $99 discount for 1) Air Duct Package. and 2) Dryer Vent Cleaning $135 discount. This appears to represents the FREE part.. The overall work was satisfactory. I had completed a second review after the original and stated this same info more or less. but it apparently did not go to Clear Air.."

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You can add return vent filters to your HVAC system to help remove contaminants from the air. However, you should avoid adding return vent filters if your HVAC system already has a filter in its air handler. Filters can restrict airflow, which will make your HVAC system work harder.

You may occasionally notice less air movement from your home’s furnace and air conditioning system. Cleaning air ducts can help with airflow through the HVAC system. However, quite a bit of dust and debris inside the ducts wouldn’t restrict airflow enough that you could feel it. As a first option, try changing the furnace filter to improve airflow.

While your forced heating system runs, it can pick up dirt, dust, hair, and other particles from inside your house. Changing your furnace filters regularly is key to preventing this debris from getting stuck in your ducts and swirling around your home. With some types of furnaces, there’s also the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. However, staying up-to-date with your HVAC inspections and installing carbon monoxide sensors can help mitigate this risk.

The best air duct cleaning methods involve removing the debris or dust in the ductwork through the use of a vacuum. Air duct pros refer to this method as negative pressure cleaning. To knock debris loose inside the ductwork, you may need to use a hand-operated brush or a rotary brush. You then can use the vacuum to suck up the loose debris and remove them from the ducts. If mold is present, pros may use a chemical spray to try to kill any bacteria or mold inside the system.

No, because closing air vents could damage your HVAC system. Closing a vent will only keep the air in the duct, not redirect it to a room or zone where you’d prefer it to be. That air will become trapped within your ductwork, creating a buildup of pressure that can damage the ducts and cause leaks.
