I called on Thursday and he was able to come out on Friday which was great. I had to use plyers to shut off the hot water side on the kids shower as it would not shut off just using the shut off valve. Colin took that side apart and showed me where the washer was totally gone and was a little worried that the stem was damaged. I explained that I have had this shower worked on twice before this year and all that was ever done was replace the washer and I was still charged around $180.00 by the last plumber I used. Colin recommended that we replace all the stems with new hardware to prevent this from happening again. He quote me between 150 and 200 for everything. I agreed and he left to go to Locke's for the hardware. He returned about 30 minutes later replaced everything and was done in a total time of less than 2 hours. I got the final bill of $147.50 and was grateful. He did give me an Angie's List discount as that is how I had found out about him and by reading previous reviews. I would highly recommend him for your plumbing needs. Found termites and quoted a price of $900.00. He explained the process which included drilling thru concrete patio at back of house in several places. I accepted the bid and scheduled a time for the treatment. Tech showed up on time but said he didn't have enough of the chemical and was waiting on someone to bring him more. No one showed up with more chemical but he went ahead and treated. I questioned this but he said he had enough. No drilling thru concrete was done. Tech said it wasn't necessary that he could treat between patio slab and house but yet the price was the same. Not sure I understand this.....I had not moved the patio slab since the guy that did the inspection and estimate was there. I had soaker hoses all around the house to water the foundation. When he dug by the foundation for the treatment he left the dirt piled up and the soaker hoses pulled out. I had to level out the dirt and put the hoses back after he left. I was very happy because I thought my bill was going to be over $2000.00. I would highly recommend them. One of my outdoor faucets had broke because it was cold and my neighbor had fixed it but smelled gas while he was fixing it. That's when I called Neff's, they contacted the gas company and the gas company came out and disconnected my gas main and that's when Neff's fixed the two different gas leaks and also fixed my water heater that blew up. I had also called them around 7am a different time because of an indoor water leak and he said that his plumbers were not in the office yet but he came right over and fixed it for me. They are so professional and very nice people and very polite. They come and get the job done and don't loaf around. The first handyman I asked to do it (not this one) never showed up--probably because it was such a small job and required a lot of different skills: carpentry, painting, a good eye for matching things, good judgment on exactly what to do, etc. What's worse, there were signs that carpenter ants or termites had been behind the water-damaged baseboard in the past, so he had to be prepared to stop work and let me get an exterminator to treat if he found live insects.
He took a quick look, pulled boards off to check for insects at that time, took measurements, gave me a quick estimate, and quickly did the work at the estimated price. He has a good eye, did a great job without asking me for further directions, and was professional in all contact. I highly recommend him. "Best Tex Plumbing was sent to our home by our home warranty company. They told us we needed new pipes under our home because our pipes were old and would have problems due to their age. On August 5th Best Tex Plumbing “replaced” our pipes under our home for $2000.00. They did not pull a permit and did not give us a receipt from their company. I suppose they do this to limit their liability with no paper trail. Here we are three months later. We had a stoppage at the washer. The home warranty company sent another company out who said all the plumbing was installed incorrectly and did not have the appropriate parts for pipes under a home. I called another plumbing company out for a second opinion. They agreed that the plumbing installation was wrong. Now we need new plumbing again. Please do your self a favor and do not do business with Best Tex plumbing. They talk a good game and reassure you they work with integrity. This could not be further from the truth! If I could give them a ZERO, I would."

FAQs for water softener service projects in Port Aransas, TX
The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
