"Very knowledgeable guy who seem to know what he’s doing. Don’t know results of spraying. Have had much rain since. Will have to see if it worked. Terminex will spray again the beginning of next month."

"

I am a landlord and at the end of my current tenant's lease, during the walk through they informed me that there was some type of critter in the attic that was eating through the insulation on the pipes and anything else it could get it paws on. I was mortified because my new tenant (a single female whom I had never spoken with nor met in person) was scheduled to take possession of the property in 2 days. It was very important to me that I deliver a pristine property to my new renter.

I quickly became and Angie's List subscriber and located Hector at Arrest A Pest. I left a voice message that he returned within minutes. He came to my home quickly and mapped out a plan to resolve my problem. He and his crew were wonderful professionals and my critter is GONE. Still not sure what it was, but 100% identification is not required, just a 100% critter free attic is.

Thanks Angie and Hector!

They have provided quarterly service for us for about the past two years. They are extremely professional and kind every time they come. They were very careful to treat every single fire ant mound on our 1.6 acre lot after hearing that my daughter was bit by fire ants. They are always careful with our wooden baseboards, children napping in rooms, and our little dog. They always were foot covers and are friendly but not overly chatty. They don't always come on the day that they are scheduled but do come near the scheduled date. They are great to spray the outside if we are not home and are happy to spray and re-spray the inside anytime we need. Since using Silver Lining we are no longer seeing as many scorpions, which is impressive in our area. They also did a special treatment about a year ago when they noticed a problem with carpenter ants.

"I initially wanted to get a solar attic fan installed. But the model was not what I wanted since it didn't have an thermostat or any way to turn it off, in times of unnecessary use. Manuel provided me with a couple other options and I decided to go with an exhaust fan that was thermostat controlled and I could unplugged if I wanted.
While there I asked Manuel about adding more insulation to the attic since I had been up there a few times and had disturbed and move insulation around, and I had noticed in some areas the builder had not provide good coverage.  Being satisfied with his response and knowledge I told him I may have another project as well.  After coming down from attic I discussed and explained how I thought about providing better ventilation in the garage.  Manuel concurred and we came up with a plan.  He provided me the two estimates. (garage ventilation and more insulation in the attic.)  He also told me that with the garage project there could be more to do depending on what the builder had done--that was nice to hear so I won?t be surprised in the future if there could be more work and cost involved.
I was very pleased with the entire process. From Insulation Works responsiveness with their answers to my questions in Angie's list message center; right up to the day of the work and dealing with Manuel.
I will be using them again in the future.
Thank you Insulation Works and Manuel for your service.

"I had purchased a big deal for the service. I had a little difficulty getting a hold of them, but when they showed up they were great, and did what they were supposed to do. I paid additional for the vents. I think they are probably market price. He worked hard. Everything was fine after I got a hold of them, but it was just the initial contact."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Some animals, such as bats or birds, will be able to get out of chimneys on their own since they can fly. Other animals, however, may have a harder time and will require the help of a professional to escape. Squirrels and raccoons in particular may become stuck inside a chimney, especially if you have a buildup of soot or creosote inside. This can prevent them from being able to climb out, in which case you’ll need to call an animal control expert to help remove them.

The cost to hire an exterminator or pest control service is $175 on average, with typical costs ranging from $100 to $500. However, you could spend more depending on several factors, including the type of pest, the size and severity of the infestation, and the number of visits required.

Service costs also vary by frequency:

• One-time service: $300–$550

• Initial visit with ongoing service: $150–$300

• Monthly visits: $40–$70

• Quarterly visits: $100–$300

• Annual visits: $300–$550

The type of pest significantly impacts the price. For example, exterminating spiders typically costs between $100 and $300, while a termite problem can range from $230 to $2,500 or more, depending on the extent of the damage. Routine pest control services can help prevent future infestations and costly damage to your home.

You can find a variety of humane bird repellent sprays online and at home improvement stores. However, if you want to try a DIY method that will keep birds away without harming them, mix some water, dish soap, and a few drops of peppermint oil and spray the area you want bird-free. Peppermint oil is a notoriously lovely smell for humans, but birds tend to avoid it.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.

They can have a deterrent effect on birds to some extent. The reflective surfaces of these objects, such as aluminum foil strips, CDs, or reflective tape, create flashes of light and movement that can startle or confuse birds temporarily. However, some birds can become accustomed to these visual disturbances over time and might adapt their behavior accordingly. For a more sustained solution, combining shiny objects with other deterrent methods shared here is often beneficial for creating a more comprehensive and effective strategy for bird control.
