The thickness depends on the condition of the existing concrete and the depth of your design and imprints. You should repair and clean the surface before applying a primer and a layer of fresh concrete.

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. For larger areas of liquid, lay down cat litter or baking soda to soak up the water first. If you have extremely large pools of water sitting on your concrete, break out the wet vac and get to work.
