Aqua Clear Pools

When it came time to replaster our pool we hired Aqua Clear to do the job. We’ve been clients of Aqua Clear for a number of years. I highly recommend them for maintaining, repairing and replastering your pool. Brendan and his team were professional and efficient.

During the November of 2019, I called Aqua Clean Pools to check both my pool and spa due to a leak. Specifically, my raised spa was leaking water towards the outside wall. I called Brendan and he explained that since by pool was more than 10 years old it was recommended to check all pipes, skimmers, etc from both the pool and the spa. I accepted his recommendation and his crew arrived a week later. No broken pipes or skimmers were found. His crew fixed some minor leaks in the three out of the four jets, around the pool lights, and the skimmers. However, the leak did continue (at a smaller rate) and Brandan send his crew again. This time they were accompanied by their supervisor, who dived into the pool and found that a small piece of plaster under one of the jets was causing the problem. The leak stoped. Brendan's prices for these leaks were very reasonable. I must state that he is not trying to overcharge by doing unnecessary work. Yes, I will hire him again.

Brendan was great. If you want quality work to be done on your pool, this is who you go to. He does not cut corners on quality and is always willing to talk you through everything that he recommends. The previous owners of the pool failed to perform proper maintenance on the pool and it ultimately cost me some money to get it back into tip top shape. I am sure that you would be able to find people to perform the job at a cheaper rate, but I prefer to pay for a job to be done only once. I am extremely satisfied with the attentiveness and quality of work I have received from Brendan and Aqua Clear Pools!

We receive excellent service from Aqua Clear for pool maintenance. So good, that will they be resurfacing our pool next month.

We are always amazed how fast Brendan Hall is able to come over and diagnose the problem. This time it took less than 2 hours. He immediately knew what to do to and after having given us a rather exact estimate, he introduced a crew member who came and finished the job in a few hours that same day. When we called Mr. Hall picked up the phone himself. He quickly offered suggestions what could be wrong and had the parts in stock (and with him) for the repairs. He writes a detailed invoice and you always know where you stand ahead of time. In all the years we have known him, he has gone above the call of duty to help us keep our pool functional and clean. He once even fixed a big leak in our pool which occurred while we were traveling in Europe. He had no problems communicating with us in spite of time differences and other challenges. He was able to reassure us that he would take care of it and thanks to him and his excellent crew, all was repaired without us even being there.

My husband and I have been trying to find a reasonable and reputable pool service to maintain our pool. We've tried several at great cost to us. FINALLY, I found Brendan and we are VERY pleased. He gave us an appointment and actually showed when he said he would. He's very nice and professional and does what he said he will do with no hassle . We highly recommend Aqua Clear Pools.

Very good service

I would never recommend this company to anyone! We moved from CO to TX and purchased a home with a pool. Brendon (the owner.. or at least he stated he was) came out to give us a quote and seemed very knowledgeable with the issues we were having with our pool. He stated that we NEEDED a few things that were priority and the total cleaning cost to get our pool up and running would be about $763. Yet within the first 2 weeks, it took me calling 3x to ask when they were going to get done. Every time he came out, he pointed out areas that required replacing in order to work properly. Every cleaning our pool had within 3 weeks had issues that required us to fix immediately or he could not continue with the work. After my husband along with a few other pool contractors looked over our system, we found that all the issues he stated (spa timer, valves, pool pop-up heads, and filter grid) were in fact, WORKING! We found out that our pool DID in fact have a spa timer that was integrated into the 1 timer with pool (which he quoted over $500 to install), all pop-up heads were working (which he quoted would be over $1000 to fix including labor), circuit breakers were turned off, valves were shut that should have been open (which he quoted would be roughly $25 for parts and an addition $45 per valve.. he stated that at least 4 needed to be replaced), and our spa jets were working. Luckily we declined all these services from him! The last straw was having him clean our filter which he took apart, had laying in our lawn, and then stated we needed a new grid. He quoted us NO LABOR FEES, only the part fee which he stated would be $245. After seeing the exact same part that he used at Home Depot and Amazon for only $79, we were assured that we had been completely scammed by this company. Over $1000 later, we ended service! We will never use or recommend this company to any one in the RGV area!

Badly. The owner of the subject firm refused to honor the Angie's List discount, claiming he had 'mis-measured' the dimensions of the pool in his quotation. He was seldom present on the job site, including the day of the plaster pour when most of the problems occurred. The plaster was improperly troweled, leading to immediate and excessive problems of staining, wavy borders on the steps and bench, and erratic placement of edging tiles. These problems were eventually acknowledged by the company owner, whose efforts to rectify these defects -- despite his assurances to the contrary -- only made them more visible and unsightly. Realizing this, he then proposed further corrective actions, involving the overlaying of still more tiles to cover up the ugly discolorations his initial corrective actions had created. By this time we realized that he had no idea what he was doing, and decided that his shoddy workmanship could only be rectified by getting a different, and more competent, company involved.

It went well.

Great! They're excellent. He will fix anything if it needs to be fixed or come out on the weekend if I have any problems. He's super easy to get a hold of and reliable. The young men he hires are all exceptional and I have no worries with them on my property. I will never use anyone else.

Work was done in a timely manner and top quality. Brendan is responsive and helpful.

The professionalism and service performed by Aqua Clear Pools of Mcallen was outstanding! I have in the past dealt with various pool services that were not up to par but everything was explained to me in detail and completed in a very timely manner and I would highly recommend and use Aqua Clear Pools in the future!

Aqua Clear Pools owner came to meet with me and check status of pool. He took water samples and explained the options for correcting the issues. He was straight forward about prices for each option. Throughout the process, I received updated information on the status of the pool and even photos of the filter before and after the cleaning. Additionally, when chemical use and water bills were high, Aqua Clear thoroughly explained the process and cost for leak detection and when time opened up in the schedule moved the appointment up a week! Once leaks were found they were corrected immediately. They did quality work but most importantly, the level of communication is excellent. There have been NO surprises about cost and no double talk.

Aqua Clear Pools has been servicing my pool for the past 5 years. I have been pleased with their services and care of our family pool. Mr. Hall has been very helpful and is extremely knowledgeable. Our pool has been maintained beautifully and that has been a great blessing. I can describe their company as being dependable, skilled, helpful, courteous, meticulous and professional.

Service was fast and furious, the owner was friendly and very transparent about the pricing and how likely it is to work. When it was discovered filter repair would be needed, the price was fair from what I have seen. We also began a maintenance contract and that has been going well. They brought my pool back from the dead and hopefully added many years of life and fun to it.

My experience was okay. I like them. I was satisfied. It was all under an $80 service charge. He was a little late and that is not unusual in the pool business, but he did call me five minutes before he was due to arrive and said that he would be another 20 minutes and I said okay. My previous guy just would not call at all. We do not know if he would turn or nothing.

After more than 10 years of having Aqua Clear service our pool, we finally cancelled them in November and went with someone else and we are very glad we did. Our pool is now being serviced for much less than half of what we ended up paying Aqua Clear each month once the chemical charges were added. In addition, with our new service, the sides of our pool have ceased to turn brown even without the addition of the "blue stuff" that Aqua Clear said was needed to prevent the browning and for which we were charged about $300+ when it was first added. Aqua Clear then wanted to charge me an additional $40 a month to keep adding the "blue stuff" to keep the sides from browning again. Today, with our new service, our pool looks better then it ever has and the sides never turn brown -- without the addition of any of that "blue stuff" -- despite the fact that it needs to be replastered. Our new pool service provider has told us that the pool probably would not need replastering if it had been properly serviced over the years. Our new pool service technician spends nearly an hour vacuuming, scrubbing and balancing the chemical each time he services the pool. The Aqua Clear "technician" seldom spent more than 15 minutes and rarely actually scrubbed the sides. The final straw came when our filter house suddenly developed a crack just a little over a month after Aqua Clear installed new filter vanes in it at a cost of about $400. Aqua Clear gave me a price of $1,030 to install at new Hayward filter. I was in the hospital at the time so my wife had to deal with this. Having done some research online into the cost of the filter Aqua Clear would install for that price, she called some other pools service providers, all of whom came in in the neighborhood of $300 less to provide and install the new filer and haul off the old one. She selected the person who is now our pools service provider and the work was done neatly and quickly at the price quoted. He later told me that when he remove the old filter, that it did not seem to him as though the filter vanes in it were only a month or so old. But by that time, he had already disposed of the old filter so there was not way to check the condition or likely age of the vanes in it. I was for years loyal to Aqua Clear but in the end came to feel that I was being badly treated and vastly over-charged. So went with a new provider and could not be happier. Now that our chemicals are in proper balance, our monthly service bill is about 1/3 of what we were paying Aqua Clear.
