Please accept my sincerest apologies that we didn't meet you expectations. We really do try very hard to meet and exceed every customer's expectations on every project. We have had to adapt and make changes to the challenges and I will be the first to admit that we have not been successful with every challenge thrown our way. This is a very trying time for everyone, but I will not have this be an excuse for not having met your expectations. I will happily try my absolute best to ensure that you and I can resume a successful business relationship. If given the opportunity, I'd like to try and mend this situation with you. Kind regards, Robert Howard"
"Dear [Member Name Removed], It is regretful that you feel we have not provided you with quality service. We have invested many, many man hours into your project including the negotiation of your insurance claim, 2 trips by a plumber to perform testing and supervision by our management team throughout the negotiation process with your insurance adjuster. Our team spent many hours providing your insurance adjuster with every bit of information he required for your claim. All the plumber'[Member Information Removed] time, and our man hours invested in your project were covered by your deposit. The balance was returned to you after your decision to terminate our contract after the necessary 3 day cancellation clause had expired. We feel as though we did everything possible to provide you with quality customer service in a professional and workman like manner. Again, we are regretful that we could not assist you further with a more positive result with regards to your insurance claim and are always striving to do better for all of our clients. We appreciate your candidness and will always strive to provide our clients with the best quality service we can."
"Dear Mrs. [Member Name Removed], We appreciate the business and glad that we could help. Thank you for the wonderful review as well. Thank you, Robert Howard"
"Dear Mrs. [Member Name Removed], We appreciate your business and your wonderful review. Thank you, Robert Howard"
On 8/25/14, I signed a contract with Aztec and gave them 1/3 of the total cost of the repairs. I gave Doug a $4,200.00 cashiers check along with the contract. I was also informed that they wouldn't be able to start the job until 6 weeks from that date, and that at the start of work another 1/3 of the total cost would be needed. Doug informed my wife and I that we had 3 days from the signing of the contract to cancel it and receive a full refund under state law. We were satisfied with that, and signed and Doug left.
On 8/26/14, I did more research on the company and what other people have done. I also received lots of call backs from different companies that wanted to come give me an estimate. I was being bombarded with information and felt that I needed to cancel the contract due to the 3 day time constraint so that I could make a more informed decision before spending 12,500 with Aztec. I called Doug to let him know that I wanted to cancel and I wanted to gather more information before moving forward and hopefully sign another contract the following week. Doug became irate with me over the phone and basically said that I don't trust him and he spent many hours at my house measuring my foundation, which he only spent a total of 30-45 minutes both inside and outside my home. He then went to tell me that he doesn't want to work with someone that he does not trust, and that he has plenty of other customers and doesn't need my business. I told him to wait, and let me contact my wife before I made a decision.
Doug called me back while I was speaking with my wife and asked if he could come over with his Supervisor, Jarrett Alexander. I agreed, and they arrived at my home in 10 minutes. Both Doug and Mr. Alexander got out of their trucks and started walking to my property. As soon as I saw Doug coming onto my property, I told him to turn around and go back to his truck because I wanted to speak to Mr. Alexander about his behavior. He did so, in a very rude manner and sat in his truck for 5 minutes and then took off in a very fast pace down my street where kids play.
I spoke with Mr. Alexander and heard him out for about 20 minutes without interrupting. When he was done talking, I asked him if I ever interrupted him while he was talking, and he acknowledged that I didn't. I told him that Doug's behavior was unacceptable and asked if it was true that they DID NOT need my business and potentially 12,500 dollars. He said that he wanted and needed my business and that Doug would be reprimanded. At this time he gave me my cashiers check back and asked that I come out to a job site the next afternoon before cancelling the contract to see his work. I was not able to make it to the job site in time, and nobody was there when I got there. Mr. Alexander never gave me his telephone number and would always call from a blocked number. I spoke with Mr. Alexander previously in the day and told him verbally that I wished to cancel the contract and would like to wait til the following week to make my final decision. He kept pressing to get me to wait, and I asked him to please respect my request of cancellation.
I gathered more information on this company, and apparently over the past years they have changed their names several times. Also, the physical address of their office is a run down house in the ghetto part of Harlingen. I went to that address to receive a notice of cancellation in writing so that I won't have to worry about them trying to say that I never cancelled the contract. I came to work and called the office number again to ask for Mr. Alexanders email address so that I could email him and have a paper trail that I cancelled the contract. The receptionist was rude and asked why I needed it and I told her the reason and she gave it to me. I emailed Mr. Alexander so that I could have a paper trail for my records.
15 minutes after emailing Mr. Alexander, I received a fax with a notice of cancellation. 15 minutes after receiving the fax he called me from a blocked phone number again. I answered and he sounded very agitated and asked what exactly was my problem and what did I want from him. I told him I just wanted a notice of contract cancellation and I had already received it.
I advise ANYONE looking to use this company to PLEASE do your research!!!! This is a lot of money for me to spend, and both Doug and Mr. Alexander's professionalism really sealed the deal for me not going with their company. They bad mouthed other companies, bad mouthed the structural engineer that I was going to hire, and basically bad mouthed myself. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research. Yes, they are on Angie's List, but look at their track record before then and how many times they have changes their company name. I also found it odd that when I was calling other companies in Harlingen, such as A-Advance and A-1, and A-Affordable, ALL OF THEM HAD THE SAME RECEPTIONIST ANSWERING THE PHONE.
I am glad that I chose not to go with this company, and I hope you do your research before you invest your hard earned money on them.
"We sincerely regret not being able to come to a mutually satisfactory agreement with you (Member name removed) regarding the repairs to your home. I certainly understand your frustration with the process and in dealing with multiple separate companies and multiple opinions regarding the method(s) of repairs for your home. This is my one and only business. I do not have any affiliation whatsoever with any other foundation repair / remodeling firms. My company name has never changed. Every employee with prior experience has worked for another firm I am sure, but that has absolutely no bearing on me or my company. My complete interest in focused on Aztec and my clients' repair projects. I can say that with every repair project, there are many obstacles to overcome from pricing, contract agreements, mutual trust & respect, down to actual construction, etc. With all of the aforementioned obstacles, it is sometimes very hard to reach an agreement with all of our clients. Often times we as contractors / salesmen pour our heart and soul into these projects. We impose on ourselves a policy of making every effort to ensure the project is handled efficiently and professionally from our initial visit to the very last hour of the projects completion. Everyone here at Aztec is working with me for a reason. I have complete trust and faith in all of my employees to handle each and every project with care and professionalism. With that being said, I am also fully aware that everyone is human and therefore has the potential of making mistakes in judgement and in character from time to time. While I hold with high regard all of my employees, I also feel the same about each and every client. I know that without the support and trust of clients such as yourself, that I would not have success and longevity in this industry. Let me be clear in that I do NOT condone un-professionalism in my employees, but I am understanding of human nature and feelings. Your grievances about my salesman's actions will not be overlooked. Please accept my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences and mis-handlings with your home repair project. I know it is of extreme importance to you that you have complete faith and trust with whomever you hire to perform the repairs to your home. I am deeply regretful that we were unable to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement. I stand by the decision to halt any further efforts to be awarded your approval for our plan of repairs to your home. I wish you the best in your search to find the right contractor for you and your home repair project. Respectfully, Robert Howard"
"I apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you and we understand your time is valuable, but our time is valuable as well. We try to accommodate to all of our customers and sometimes we are ahead of schedule and sometimes we are behind schedule. Unfortunately we had some scheduling issues on your particular job due to unforeseen circumstances, but as a company we try to do our best to show up during the promised times. In the future we will try to work harder to have better communication and hope to keep a workman like relationship."
