"Fixed my poor ventilation of my dryer duct. Don't know how effective the hvac duct cleaning was. I figured it didn't hurt to do it once since it's never been done but mostly purchased deal for dryer duct."

Customers say: Super punctual

"We moved into our first home on Wednesday December 18, 2013, and shortly thereafter it became clear that the vents and ducts needed cleaning.  I was experiencing really bad allergies, and a quick look at the ducts and vents led to a possible cause.
Mr. O'Keefe Johnson and his son Leroy, who is also a technician, came to our home the following Friday at the scheduled time.  O'Keefe began by assessing the layout of the HVAC system.  He explained the inner workings of the HVAC system to my wife in plain speak, including the vent types, the difference between them, filters.  O'Keefe determined there were 21 vents, which included 16 supply vents, and 5 return vents.  O'Keefe explained where the location of the filters were, and how to change them. He showed the build-up of dust at each vent location.  O'Keefe explained what options were available to my wife, and the costs associated with them. My wife decided to have all the vents cleaned.  O'Keefe used the Rotobrush to clean all of the ducts.  There were huge dust balls coming out of the ducts.  He painstainkingly showed what each of the ducts looked like before and after the service.  The difference was night and day!  The ducts were dingy and fuzzy before the cleaning, and were spotless and shiny afterwards.  O'Keefe even cleaned each vent housing for free - this is normally $5 a vent, which saved us $105.  O'Keefe meticulously cleaned the area around each vent site.
Having the full duct cleaning service performed was the best decision ever.  I am breathing easier, and my allergies are a thing of the past.
We will definitely use Pure Air for our future duct and vent cleaning needs, and recommend them to our friends and family.

"Mechanical Comfort Systems installed a new heating and air system when my upstairs (where all the bedrooms are located) system went out in the heat of the summer on a Thursday (left for work and it was working... got home and it was 90 degrees upstairs). I had another HVAC contractor out before calling Mechanical Comfort Systems and their proposal was significantly more expensive for a lesser system than I received from Mechanical Comfort Systems (the efficiency of the system was an upgrade from existing, and other company quoted replacement with same efficiency as existing). The system was replaced quickly (on a Saturday), and the installers were great, very professional. They cleaned up after themselves, and did a great job. During the freeze this February, I had a water pipe freeze and burst. Mechanical Comfort Systems came out the day after, even though driving conditions were still terrible and all my friends in similar situation were being told it'd be several days to a week before a plumber could come unless they paid some ridiculously expensive emergency fee... I recommended Mechanical Comfort Systems to three other people I knew that also had frozen pipes burst, and they all had them come after fix theirs after I gave them Mechanical Comfort Systems information. I strongly recommend Mechanical Comfort Systems to anyone needing any plumbing or HVAC work. I'll definitely use them again... although I hope not anytime soon ?"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

This is a bit of a trick question. Even though the seasons arrive at the same time every year, the weather doesn’t always behave according to the calendar. So, while it’s fair to say that you can expect to turn on your AC starting in late May or early June, it all depends on the outside temperature and how cool you like to keep your home.

A frozen coil can cause permanent damage to your HVAC system and lead to costly repairs if not fixed. It can cause the unit to overheat and also cause the compressor to fail. It’s vital to turn the unit off if the coil is frozen and address the issue as soon as possible.

An AC drip pan may stop draining if there’s a clog where the drip pan connects to the drain line. Clogs can form from a lack of cleaning or from rust or corrosion buildup. Cleaning the drip pan at least once per month lowers the chances of debris clogging the drain line.

Winterizing can still help you save money on energy costs and help prepare your AC for its work next year when you turn it back on. We suggest planning for at least some maintenance, even if winters are mild in your area.

The outdoor portions of air conditioners are designed to weather the rain, so you don’t need to worry about it. An awning or roof will help protect them from snow or falling debris, which can do more damage. This is true of both window AC and outdoor units for larger systems.
