"I don't normally make recommendations, but I felt compelled to tell you about our front door glass repair by Trimble Studios. Amazing work! Our stained glass was coming apart in multiple ways and we were one door slam away from having shattered glass in our entry way. Thankfully we don't have grumpy teenagers (yet). Carl Trimble and his team took the glass out and installed a temporary board. He then took the glass back to his studio, rebuilt the lead pieces, rebuilt a few cracked glass pieces, properly built a support bar, and two weeks later, popped it right back into our front door. You can clean the oven window the same way you clean the oven walls. Make a paste of baking soda and water and let it sit on the window overnight before wiping it off with a damp cloth. You might find it helpful to rub the baking soda paste in with an old toothbrush.
There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.
