You can use a new bathtub after 24 to 48 hours. It's best to double-check with your plumber, though, because the time can depend on the type of bathtub installed and special process or materials used. A powder room cannot have a bath. If it had a bath, it would likely be considered a three-quarter bath or full bath, depending on the other features. The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

Installing a walk-in bathtub can be worth it if it improves the user's safety and independence. However, because walk-in tubs require a large investment, not every homeowner has the means or desire to install one. As an alternative, some homeowners prefer to install a walk-in shower and transfer bench instead. Walk-in showers cost between $1,150 and $8,000, making them far more budget-friendly in comparison.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.
