"I had this contractor and others evaluate the repair to a fence damaged by wind. This contractor was the only contractor who stated he could replace the section of fence in the brick retaining wall as it was originally installed. Others wanted to move the fence section into the dirt yard. Imagine what that selection would look like and loosing yard space. The original quote was for a section replacement. Instead, we elected for a 100% cedar fence replacement. After the fence removal and examining the metal post, other post were found. There were 7 metal post needing replacement. The new post holes were drilled into the brick retainer wall. Brick damaged by the original blow over and new drilling process were replaced with matching brick. All original connection hardware was replaced with new black hardware. All metal fence post were painted black to match the connecting hardware. This was a suggestion from the contractor. After a cure time, the fence was sealed with 2 coats of sealer. A very professional job and worth the money spent."

"Everything Chad does is above board. I've used him for various projects at my house since 2008. The latest one being a total bathroom remodel, including plumbing underneath the floor, walls for my shower and my bathroom, vanity sink, he installed a new toilet and everything was needed. In other words, everything is brand new in that bathroom. He gutted the bathroom and he started from scratch. He put in a tile floor, a new bathtub , tiled around the tub , painted the entirety set the vanity put in pocket doors moved a wall to expand the size of the bathroom as it was tiny. Chad is a contractor you can depend on to do exactly what you ask him to do.. I highly recommend tiring Chad! He is an ultra professional!"

"They are good quality windows and their customer service was great. However a little pricey. The window latch broke after a couple months and it took seven months to get it because they claimed they discontinued the windows. How am I to get a lifetime warranty on a discontinued window? And 6 months to replace a latch. Scary. I do like the windows but I will not do this again for the other windows due to price and length it took to get broken latch fixed. Not sure how good the warranty actually is"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

The overflow drain and wastewater drain connect to the same main pipe to take water away from your bathtub. Your overflow drain is meant to prevent damage to your bathroom—especially the floor around your bathtub, where excess water can quickly create a mold or mildew problem.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.
