"Schmitt Exteriors installed new windows and siding throughout our house for a MUCH MORE fair price than a similar company. Rick was communicative and informative throughout the whole process, and all of the staff was polite and professional. The work was done in a timely manner, our house REALLY needed this. We are extremely happy with the results, just the jumpstart we needed to motivate us to improve the interior of our home!"
"They are good quality windows and their customer service was great. However a little pricey. The window latch broke after a couple months and it took seven months to get it because they claimed they discontinued the windows. How am I to get a lifetime warranty on a discontinued window? And 6 months to replace a latch. Scary. I do like the windows but I will not do this again for the other windows due to price and length it took to get broken latch fixed. Not sure how good the warranty actually is"
"We had discussed replacing our windows so when PK sales representative showed us the type of windows they used and showed some of their former work we decided to go with their company. He gave us a quote that seemed reasonable for all that we wanted to do. Within a short time Peter Larson, the owner, came to take measurements, answer questions and give his expert advice when asked. He was extremely easy to work with and very honest. The team worked quickly yet very careful to do every job correctly. It took about two weeks to complete our project. We are extremely pleased with the appearance of our house as it looks so updated and fresh with all that was done. We would definitely recommend this company to others and plan to use them in the future for other construction jobs. "

Midland homeowners are choosing larger windows with expansive views, impact-resistant glass for hail protection, and triple-pane designs for better insulation. Black or earth-tone frames complement local architecture, while prairie and colonial grid patterns remain favorites. Vinyl and fiberglass frames are popular for their durability in the dry climate. Smart window features, such as integrated blinds and security sensors, are also trending in window installation projects.

In Midland, homeowners should prioritize window replacement options that address the region’s extreme heat, frequent dust storms, and high winds. Look for windows with advanced Low-E coatings, strong weather seals, and impact-resistant glass to withstand hail. Given the arid climate, composite or fiberglass frames resist warping better than wood. Consider window installation features that improve dust protection and energy efficiency for year-round comfort.

New homeowners in Midland should start with a thorough inspection for wind or hail damage, focusing on the west and south-facing windows most exposed to sun and storms. Replacing single-pane windows with energy-efficient double or triple-pane options can reduce cooling costs. Prioritize sealing gaps to keep out dust and allergens. Upgrading window locks and adding UV-blocking films are also smart early improvements for comfort and security.
Helpful?
Midland homes with original windows, especially those built before 2000, often benefit from window replacement or repair. Signs like foggy panes, drafty rooms, or sun-faded interiors indicate poor insulation or UV protection. If your home has experienced recent hail or wind damage, or if you notice increased dust inside, it’s a good time to consider upgrading your windows for better energy efficiency and durability.
Helpful?
During window installation or window repair in Midland, it’s common to discover frame damage from shifting soil or past hail events. Homes may need extra sealing to block dust intrusion, and stucco exteriors often require careful patching. Specialty glass for energy efficiency or impact resistance may involve longer shipping times. Weather delays and extra cleanup for dust storms can also extend project timelines and labor needs.
