I wanted to hire a local plumber to redo my water softener connections. Ed gave me a quote over the phone. The quote only included parts and 3 hours of labor. No hourly rate was given for the labor. Ed stated that he told me the labor rate on the phone, but he did not. Needless to say I was...

Grant was so kind, punctual, respectful and most of all affordable! In a home with 3 teenagers it will be great to take a long hot continuous shower. The instillation was clean and efficient, I can still fit my Halloween decor in the water heater closet. Thank you The Plumbing Bros

A local company that does it right! My most recent service was to replace an outdated water softener. The replacement was quick, clean, quiet and most of all professional. Kelly Parks and his crew have proved once again why they are my go-to for any water concerns: RO, water softeners, pool...

We were very pleased with their professionalism and customer service. They are very knowledgable and made sure we understood all the options we had and what needed to be done. When we are ready to buy, we will call Kinetico to replace our old water softener for sure!

The service did not work out very well at all. The individual came out and worked on the water softener for an extremely long period of time, which I didn't have a complaint about, but after he was done, the water softener was leaking internally. You could hear the water running. I called him...

Frank always delivers. I called him to diagnose a leak near my hot water heater and water softener and he quickly determined that I had a faulty hot water circulation pump. Frank isolated the pump to stop the leak and told me that they run about $350 at the local plumbing supply house. I had...

We are proud to be San Antonio's largest residential heating and air conditioning contractor. From the moment you call until the job is done, our goal is your 100% satisfaction. If the job is not done right, we will make it right.
"I had a problem with my AC and called them for a service appointment. John Wayne has a good reputation, so I chose to call them and they were quick to respond. The tech who came to my residence was very friendly and professional, however, he seemed more like a sales rep than a technician. After a few hours and $950 worth of work, he indicated that the HVAC system was not repairable. He created a quote for various options to install a new system. I had previously researched average costs for replacement of a 5 ton / 16 SEER system, which averaged approximately $9-10K for a reputable company with reliable brands. The first option the tech provided was for $40,600, which was a little surprising. He offered several options, with the cheapest being $10,700 for the lowest quality equipment and least warranty. He indicated that the primary difference between John Wayne and other companies is the quality and training of the employees. He also used typical sales techniques, such as “why would you feel different tomorrow” when I indicated that I’d prefer to think about the decisive overnight. During research online, I saw that John Wayne uses Amana products, which are a little more expensive but highly rated and manufactured here in Texas. I purchased a system one echelon higher than the lowest priced system for $13,700, still well-above what I was prepare to pay; however, the tech indicated that they would waive the outstanding $950 bill if I purchased the system and they would be able to install the next day. The next morning, four techs arrived, all pleasant and professional; however, only one appeared to be a trained technician, while the other three appeared to be labor for assisting and conducting menial tasks, such as cleaning the ducts. Within the first hour, two of them accidentally shattered several sconces on the chandelier in my dining room when a piece of equipment fell while cleaning a duct. They are still here in my house installing, but I truly feel like paid too much. Again, I don’t doubt that they are a solid company, but feel like was pressed by a salesman rather than a technician when I needed an urgent problem addressed. I believe I could’ve purchased just as good of a system, maybe better, from a reliable company for a few thousand dollars less."

FAQs for water softener service projects in Marion, TX
The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
