"FIVE STARS!! EMPWR is awesome please bring them your business. Eugene The owner just saved us so much money! Single mom here on a budget. My electricity went out and I tried to do my do diligence by checking the breaker but I missed something. The owner was kind enough to face time with me and saw the issue. He explained what I missed and then we had lights. Please call them for all your electrical needs. This was the most helpful honest company I've ever encountered."

"The work never happened. The contractor Aaron, provided me with a quote of over $1600.00 for a routine electrical job that involved trenching to bury a power line. I provided all of the materials, and this was a 4 hour labor job at the maximum. The quote was clearly outrageous. But, it was a holiday and I was willing to pay a premium. Mr. Electric dropped their price from over $1600.00 to $900.00, but at that point I felt the job was still overpriced. The contractor Aaron was very nice, but clearly bothered by the pricing he was forced to charge people. I felt that he was caught in the middle, it was just an unfortunate situation. All in all, I would use them again for simple problems, but just not complex jobs.

"Ken and his team rewired a studs up remodel in downtown Austin during Covid for us. They were flexible, competent and actually showed when they said they would. They even responded to random texts answering questions and taking on more work we had to force them to take money for...seriously he's amazing. In addition to a new panel, removing all old wiring and installing new wiring for the complete house, Ken ran lines and installed 12 POE cameras, ran fiber to an exterior junction, installed networked smoke/CO2 detectors, and installed about 20 pot lights in the ceilings. The house being from the 1950's and having random "quirks" with pinned down old wiring didn't bother Ken or his apprentice and I found them at the house a couple of Sundays making sure they got the work done. Seriously, it's almost like I want to tell random people at the coffee shop "hey you need an electrician? I know this company 'Morningstar Electric.....""

"Andy did a great job on wiring a new building as well as adding cat 5 wiring to my existing home. He worked around some challenging access issues for the cat 5 install and made sure everything was working before he left. The quality of all the work was outstanding. He provided some good advice in one aspect of the install in the new build, helping me avoid a costly mistake. He was very friendly, timely, and easy to work with. His prices were entirely fair. I 100% recommend Andy!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Manor, you’ll find residential electricians specializing in panel upgrades, rewiring, and code compliance for older homes. Some contractors focus on smart home installations, solar panel integration, or pool and spa electrical work. Others offer emergency electrical services or specialize in safety inspections. Many local professionals understand Manor’s unique mix of historic and new homes, providing tailored solutions for your specific electrical needs.

Helpful?

Homes in Manor built before 1990, or those with fuse boxes, two-prong outlets, or aluminum wiring, are strong candidates for electrical upgrades. Watch for flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, or warm outlets—these are signs your system may be outdated. Insurers often require electrical updates in homes over 40 years old, so reviewing your system can help maintain safety and insurance eligibility.

Helpful?

For new homeowners in Manor, start by scheduling a professional electrical panel inspection to ensure your system meets current safety standards. Upgrade to GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas for code compliance. Consider installing whole-home surge protection to guard against Texas storms, and add ceiling fans for energy efficiency. If you plan to charge an electric vehicle, prepare your garage with appropriate wiring.

Helpful?

To improve electrical safety in Manor homes, install tamper-resistant outlets and arc-fault circuit interrupters (AFCIs) to reduce fire risks. Use secure covers on outlets and electrical panels, and keep cords out of reach from pets. Label emergency shutoff switches clearly and ensure GFCI protection for all outdoor and pool areas. Enhance lighting in hallways and stairways to prevent accidents for both children and pets.

Helpful?

Electrical upgrades in Manor can impact HVAC units, water heaters, or pool equipment, especially if you’re adding circuits or upgrading your panel. Smart home devices and security systems may require rewiring or reconfiguration. If you have or plan to install solar panels, check that new electrical work is compatible. Always coordinate with licensed professionals to ensure all systems remain safe and functional.
