"These guys did a great job. The tiles in my kitchen had popped up, but I had 18 extra tiles to use. The tile guys were able to save all the unbroken tiles so I still have 15 of my extra tiles left for the next time. They did a great job."

"Mr. Turcios and the men working for him were all very pleasant and hard working. They were here on time worked all day and finished my job in four days. My new shower is beautiful. We found them to be very trust worthy. I highly recommend Turcios Tile and will certainly call them back when I am in need of their service. Thank you again Wilfredo. "TGR did a great job, sounds to be a cliche but they did the job, on time, with quality and on budget! We had our lounge re-modelled, including replacement patio and kitchen doors, floor tiling and sheet rock (ceilings). In a world of late show ups, escalated bids and shoddy workmanship, their employees, from initial quoting to getting the job done were exemplary. They encountered and addressed some problems we had (None of their doing) and we are left with another part of our home we are proud to live in. No hidden fees, a polite and genuine workforce, one couldn't ask for more. Would we recommend TGR to our friends - most certainly, thanks for making this a painless task!!"

"Houston Custom Carpets did an outstanding job improving and updating our master bath. Everyone involved provided us with excellent service, excellent craftsmanship, attentiveness to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness during the project, and keeping us informed of scheduling and any other issues. Our project started with a visit by Matt from the showroom to understand our needs. He was excellent at providing options and being very detailed in his assessments of what we had to work with and how different design elements might work. We especially appreciated how he worked to get us exactly the shower tiles that we wanted, when one of our choices was not available. He kept in touch with us during the process, including coming by to review the progress. When work started, Cindy from the warehouse was our main contact. From the start, she kept us fully informed of what craft was showing up at what time and if there were any changes she always kept us informed. There were no surprises. All of the craft men arrived as scheduled. They made sure our floors were protected from where they entered at the front door. And carefully cleaned up after each visit. Alfredo handled the shower demolition and rebuild. He is highly skilled and professional. He let us know when there was one problem with the tile we ordered, but in the end he solved that problem and the shower turned out just as we wanted. Oscar handled the plumbing installation. He also proceeded in a very professional manner. He pointed out something he thought we might want to correct, which we did. And that was much appreciated. Installation of the shower door and some carpentry work was also handled with professionalism and without any wasted time. And Erik did a beautiful paint job, with attentiveness to detail, neatness and customer service. We would definitely recommend this team from Houston Custom Carpets."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

While tile is the best option in the bathtub, don’t forget to consider the flooring around the wash station. Moisture-holding carpet is a no-no, but is tile or vinyl better for dogs? Tile flooring is tough, moisture-resistant, cool, and scratch-proof. However, it’s more tricky to install and costs more than vinyl flooring. If you opt for vinyl, select tough luxury vinyl flooring; otherwise, canine claws could quickly damage the surface of standard, budget vinyl.

You can use sanded or unsanded grout for a shower pan, but sanded grout isn’t the best option for shower walls. For those areas, you’ll want to use unsanded grout, which works well on vertical surfaces and is less likely to slump than sanded grout. Alternatively, you can use epoxy grout for shower walls.

Tile countertops can last up to 100 years when properly maintained. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most durable types and can last as long as natural stone countertops like granite, marble, and quartz. Tile countertops are much cheaper than natural stone countertops, making them an excellent option for a homeowner with a limited budget.

Most professional shower tile installations take between six and eight hours, depending on the size and complexity. Most projects get completed in a single workday. DIY-ing the project takes around three to four days or roughly 16 hours. However, this will vary based on the skill level of the person completing the work.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.
