"These guys did a great job. The tiles in my kitchen had popped up, but I had 18 extra tiles to use. The tile guys were able to save all the unbroken tiles so I still have 15 of my extra tiles left for the next time. They did a great job."

"Javier, Karina, and their team have been wonderful to work with. They remodeled our kitchen, including adding new cabinet doors, backsplash, and countertops, as well as painting and installing a farm sink. They were very communicative, timely, and helpful, and we will hire them again to help with a few other projects weâ d like to complete, including updating our bathrooms."

"Their team showed up a little early and stayed late working diligently to get our Primary Bedroom back to normal! I can’t say enough great things about them! From the highly skilled crew that performed the install to the knowledgeable staff inside the store that got us what we needed…no pushy salespeople here! They didn’t even try to up-sell any specific product…just listened to what we asked for and got to work…thank you x100!"

Small jobs welcome

"Ezequiel and his guys did an incredible job! Communicative, quick, and always on time. We noticed that the pattern on the tile work was incorrect in a few spots after they had finished and been paid. He came back and fixed it with no questions or complaints. Looks absolutely perfect. I would definitely use this company again!"

"Mr. Turcios and the men working for him were all very pleasant and hard working. They were here on time worked all day and finished my job in four days. My new shower is beautiful. We found them to be very trust worthy. I highly recommend Turcios Tile and will certainly call them back when I am in need of their service. Thank you again Wilfredo. "The 3 day process went seamlessly from the purchasing process through out the installation. The entire team was very professional. The installers were very conscientious about respecting the space they were working in, protecting areas with drop cloths for floors or counters depending where they were working. I was also very impressed with their cleanup after each installation. Great work!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

If you’re handling your tile removal yourself, seal the room using painter’s tape and heavy-duty contractor bags to prevent dust and shards from escaping. Use a claw hammer or a pry bar and a mallet to get behind the tile and pry it away from the floor or wall. Once your tiles are all removed, sweep everything into contractor bags for disposal, being careful not to overfill them. Make sure you wear a dust mask, safety goggles, and work gloves to keep yourself safe from injury while you work.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.
