"I don't normally make recommendations, but I felt compelled to tell you about our front door glass repair by Trimble Studios. Amazing work! Our stained glass was coming apart in multiple ways and we were one door slam away from having shattered glass in our entry way. Thankfully we don't have grumpy teenagers (yet). Carl Trimble and his team took the glass out and installed a temporary board. He then took the glass back to his studio, rebuilt the lead pieces, rebuilt a few cracked glass pieces, properly built a support bar, and two weeks later, popped it right back into our front door. Distilled white vinegar removes stickers from glass by breaking down the adhesive with its acidic qualities. You can apply the vinegar to the area with a sponge or cleaning cloth. Let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes, and then scrape the area with a plastic scraper or the edge of a credit card.
When glass shatters, larger shards quickly drop to the ground, but smaller particles can go on an airborne journey up to 15 feet from the point of impact. So check under furniture, along the edges of rugs, and in dark corners for glass fragments. When in doubt, vacuum the entire room a few times after thoroughly cleaning.
Clean regularly with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials to prevent scratches.
You should always pack glasses standing up. It will eliminate the pressure that comes with weight when delicate items are stacked on top of each other horizontally. Don’t forget to wrap each glass individually with bubble wrap, and don’t add anything on top except for additional padding. Always mark these boxes as fragile.
For small cracks, glass-bonding glue that can be pressed into cracks may be able to save a broken mirror. If a corner of a mirror has been chipped, you may be able to conceal the fact by adding a border or frame to the mirror. Deeper cracks and chips should be addressed by a glass-restoration professional if you're trying to preserve an antique or heirloom mirror.
