"Working with Nathan and his crew was the absolute best. He was so professional, patient as we took a while to make decisions, and he gave great recommendations. Their entire office was so professional, their follow-through was amazing. The crew that came out and did the painting were so nice, polite and professional. They took great care and making sure all of our stuff was covered as to prevent splattering. They were so quick and did such an amazing job. We absolutely love it. We asked for a couple of last-minute changes and they did it with no question. Their pricing was spot on in comparison to other companies but their pre-work and guarantee, along with how great they were to work with sold us right away. I have no hesitation recommending them for any painting projects that you have!"

"Yellow Rose did a fantastic job painting our house. They were extremely careful to keep the paint on the walls and off of everything else! And they got done a day early. If we ever decided to paint again we will definitely go with them."

"I contacted Angie’s list for a handyman. Jworks was the only one that contacted me back for the items I needed help with. It all started with installing a microwave. I’ve hired him several times. He’s awesome, does a great job. I will continue to hire him as long as he continues to do this kind of work. All my jobs have been well done!! Thanks Jworks."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Pricing depends on prep work, paint/stain choice, area size, scaffolding needs, and detailed trim inclusions like precision-balanced windowsills.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.
