"I wished I had hired the Water Dr. before I installed my water softener. He and his team were very professional and knowledgeable when it came to my system. He not just identified but fixed the problems associated with my last installation company. I appreciated that he took the time to explain things not just to me but my wife and she felt confident that if any issues came up she would be able to turn off the water to the house. I highly recommend the Water Dr. for your plumbing, water softener installation, or anything dealing with your water. I will definitely hire this company again."

"The installer Dustin was great! He was on time and professional. The installation was completed in about four hours as stated the job would be. I am happy with my water softener system and so is my skin!"

"The response time and follow-up by Texan Water was absolutely amazing despite this recent winter storm in Texas. We were out of water dur to frozen broken pipes and pump. Getting any other company to just answer their phones or even get back to us was impossible. After searching through about 11 different companies (plumbers and well repair services -- anyone) Texan Water not only answere their phone, but immediately got us in touch with Austin to schedule our service. They were overwhelmed with calls and work orders, but they came through for us no matter what. Now we have running water again and the repair was done in the same day! I HIGHLY recommend Texan Water for anyone who wants good old fashioned customer service and want to deal with people who really care."

"I needed emergency repair service when the water stopped flowing to the house one morning. Bee Cave Drilling called me back right away and was able to work me in to their schedule by early afternoon. Unfortunately, what I initially believed to be a blown pressure valve turned out to be much more serious. I essentially needed to replace my entire system. The system was 15 years old so I knew it was coming due, just didn't expect it all at once so suddenly (recently purchased this home). Bee Cave Drilling was excellent about explaining to me the procedures, equipment, and warranty information. They completed the job in a very timely manner and were even able to work with me regarding payment issues. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again as I intend to install a reserve tank when my budget allows."

"Highly recommend GA Plumbing. Gary is extremely reliable and does top notch work. I have used him multiple times for a variety of projects and he is consistently dependable. His rates are lower than any chain out there and he outperforms all of them."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Soft water is better for your hair. The minerals in hard water can dry out hair, make it brittle, and leave a film on the hair and scalp that may cause irritation. Hard water also doesn't rinse out shampoo and conditioner effectively, which can lead to product buildup that makes hair look dull and limp. You may also find you need to use more shampoo to get a good lather in hard water.

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

A good hardness level for drinking water can vary based on personal preferences, but an ideal level is 3.5 to 7 GPG. This means your water isn’t soft or hard. However, some people prefer the “fresh” taste from the minerals in hard water, while others like the smoother, “slippery” texture of soft water.

There are many possibilities for why your shower’s water pressure is low. It might be a simple-to-fix issue like the water valves being partially turned off, a dirty showerhead or hose, leaks in the plumbing, or an old showerhead. However, low water pressure in the shower could also indicate a larger issue with your home’s plumbing system.

Most of the U.S. has hard water, especially across portions of the West and Midwest. The areas with the hardest water include parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and New York. You’ll find soft water in parts of New England, the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii.
