They arrived right on time on the day of the appointment. All was well until the original guy that came out to the house told me that he didn't want to try to move my china cabinet. (It is of average weight for a traditional china cabinet.) He said he didn't notice it before, which was interesting because he had asked me to empty it. There are only two pieces of furniture in the dining room, so I'm assuming he forgot about the china cabinet. He wanted to leave the cabinet in place without refinishing under it. I expressed concern about the floor looking different where it wasn't refinished. Then he said the floor might get scratched if he moved it and asked me if I would be OK with that. I said "no" to that. He asked if I was ever going to move it, and pointed out that the floor couldn't be seen under the cabinet. I explained that the furniture might be moved, and that the contract indicated the entire entire floor was to be refinished. He left, explaining that the rest of the floor needed to cure before moving the cabinet, but promised that he would come back out to refinish under the cabinet "for free", but didn't seem to want to schedule a time to come back. I was supposed to call him later to ask for this last bit of the job to be done. Before he left, I suggested that the lambswool sliders that he had borrowed from me to slide my heavy couch across the floor could also be used to move the cabinet. Later that day, I noticed thin shiny streaks throughout the entire floor. The floor looked like it had scratches. The owner came back out to see it himself, was very nice, and sent the same two workers back out to do a second coat. The floor looked nice when they left, BUT THEY LEFT AGAIN WITHOUT REFINISHING UNDER THE CABINET, saying they would have to come back because they didn't have something they needed to do the job. IDK Not understanding when they were going to finish the job or why they didn't finish the job on the second visit, I decided to ask the owner directly. I texted the owner's phone and asked when they could come back out to finish the job. 9 days later, there was still no response. I texted again and asked for a reply. This is the response I received from the owner's phone. It is an exact quote with no missing words: "My guys are coming out next Wednesday. I cannot just spend gas time, and labor making multiple trips out, so this will be the last time. Please understand if my guys cannot move the cabinet safely, then you will have to hire professional movers." I texted back and asked if the owner really typed that response. I haven't gotten a reply as of today and it has been almost 3 weeks, so that is why I am writing this review. By the way, I moved the china cabinet myself using the sliders I had suggested they try. It took me about 5 minutes and didn't harm the floor. They finally came back and refinished under the cabinet as promised in our contract. The floors look nice, but it was a major hassle working with this company. We were having trouble finding a business that would do a turnkey job including cabinet work, that had good prices, and that we felt could be trusted. One day I saw reviews for Rodenbaugh's on Angies List, and noticed they were very good reviews. We decided to visit their showroom in downtown Allen, and knew almost immediately we had found the people we could do business with. The sales person was very knowledgeable and helpful, but with absolutely no pressure. She provided a thorough overview of the brands they carried. Their prices were very comparable to the sell prices for the big box stores, or maybe even a little less. AND they did the installation with their own staff, including any needed modifications to the cabinets. Before we committed to the purchase, the Rodenbaugh installation person came to our home for measurements and estimated the work needed for cabinet modifications. In order to go with a double oven, the new microwave needed to be a spacesaver type located over they cooktop, and that is where most of the cabinet modifications were needed. We had a firm price by the next day from Rodenbaugh's including installation which we felt was reasonable. Within a week the appliances were installed and in use. We are extremely pleased with Rodenbaugh's. We also called Chipman Contracting. Dan and Robin were at our house with wet vacs before anyone else arrived. They immediately went to work and had a lot of the cleanup accomplished before the Water Renovator arrived. After the house was dried out they were here to talk with the adjuster and make sure he was aware of all the damage. Our kitchen was gutted and rebuilt. Our cabinets were custom and done at a reasonable cost. He used a stain specialist, leaving us with cabinets that look like a piece of furniture. When the granite man made a mistake, Dan took care of the problem, correcting it perfectly. The flooring is beautiful as is the ceiling repair, new lighting, appliances and painting. I have mixed feelings about my experience with this company. I hate writing bad reviews, and I usually don't have trouble with the companies I hire. The owner of the company was a very nice guy in person, but I still had a bad experience. Initially, someone other than the owner came out to...

"I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I feel a responsibility to do so for future clients. We thought this experience would be great, the sales person RJ was very responsive especially in the beginning. Things started taking a turn for the worse when the painters took 2 1/2 months to complete a job that should have taken 2 to 3 weeks at most. They did not use any protective covers and either left paint all over our new floors, new tile, and furniture or ruined things such as our new electrical wires that they coated with drywall. They also left holes and huge seams in our brand new ceiling along with gaps in the drywall, among so many other things. Our completion date was October, then November, then December, then January and we finally just had to move into the unfinished home. Some of the contractors did a great job and the others we obviously not trained to do the job they were hired for. Unfortunately, we had paid everything up front except a small amount for an add on service. They did not care that we were not happy all they wanted was the money due. They came out and did finally hire someone competent to fix our ceiling and the holes in our wall but then they sent out the same team that made the mistakes to "fix" some other items and it was just terrible work. My husband and I are not people who typically complain about things but we spent close to $100,000 and we were really disappointed that the work was done poorly and we were dealt with so poorly. Honestly there is so much more I could list but I am so exhausted by all of this and I just want to be done with it. I hope this keeps someone else from going through the same thing."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts
It’s not usually a problem, although you may want to check the specifics of your cabinets first. A wall of kitchen cabinets can support about 600 pounds, including what’s inside and anything resting on top. Keep that limit in mind when adding DIY shelves or décor to the tops of cabinets. If you are installing a new row of full cabinets, they’ll typically have their own support mechanisms and the added weight will be minimal.
Maintaining painted cabinets includes regular cleaning with non-abrasive solutions and avoiding harsh chemicals that may strip paint layers.
To successfully build a shelf unit with plywood, you’ll need sheets that are at least 0.25 inches thick. Any thinner and your shelves will be flimsy and less likely to last. Expect to pay around $300 for a professional to build a basic shelving unit, or up to $1,300 for custom built-in shelves.
Standard kitchen cabinet drawers measure between 12 and 36 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and between 4 and 10 inches tall. Drawers are designed to fit with your cabinets, so a 36-inch-wide cabinet would have a 36-inch-wide drawer. The finished height of your cabinet should be 34 ½ inches to the top for a base cabinet, so if you have a 4-inch deep drawer, the cabinet below will be 30 ½ inches tall.
Kitchen cabinets can hold a whopping 500 pounds, but that is only possible if you attach them correctly. They must be anchored securely with long screws driven straight into the wall studs for solid support. Depending on your cabinets and the installer, some upper cabinets use specialized hanging systems or brackets for extra reinforcement, ensuring they stay put no matter how full they get.
