Sak's Expressions in Tile

We are very pleased with the final results of our remodeled master bathroom.  The quality of the workmanship in all of the tile work was excellent.  We were also very pleased with the results of the sub-contracted work for the cabinets, countertop and shower enclosure.  Sak's had installed new granite counter tops and floor tile in our upstairs bathrooms the previous year, so we used them again for the master bathroom remodel.  Ken has a very good eye for design and his guidance on the tile, accents, and borders were spot on.  The contractor who installed the shower enclosure commented that he likes to work with Sak's because their tile crew does such a good job, making the installation of the enclosures much easier.

The project, however, did not go smoothly.  What was promised to be a 6-8 week remodel took almost 4 months.  Most of the delay was due to delays with the cabinets.  We never found out the true cause of the delay, but we were disappointed with the way Sak's handled the situation.  It became clear to us that there had been communication breakdowns between Sak's and the cabinet manufacturers.

Another problem with the project was with the coordination of the plumbing, electrical, counter top, and cabinet installations.  Sak's did not have this planned out. The upper cabinets were installed, then had to be taken down to change the electrical.  The installation crew for the lower cabinets arrived but couldn't install them because the plumbing needed to be moved.  What should have been completed in a couple of days took over a week.

Ken was clearly distracted during this project with other issues, but a few timely returned phone calls with concrete information about when things would happen (and then have them happen as planned) would have gone a long way to keeping us satisfied.

We would use Sak's again for tile work - work that he would do with his crews. 

Terrible, terrible experience. A true home repair nightmare. Here's the short version:

Our ceramic tile was coming off of the bottom of our shower. This was the original tile from when our home was built in the 1990s. We went up to the storefront in Flower Mound, and talked Ken, the owner. He gave us a quote for the tile. We were so excited to have them replace the shower!

We bought a nice shower bar/system that he said he'd install. I didn't like where he'd installed it, it was too high for us. Tough luck, it was done. Fine.

Then, job done, check cashed, the shower started leaking. After several calls and weeks and weeks of wet floor, after tearing apart the adjoining bedroom wall myself in order to find the leak, he sent people out who "repaired" the damage. Several times when they said they'd be there, they weren't, resulting in me taking valuable time off of work for absolutely nothing.

Sure enough, it stopped leaking. However, the tile he used to replace the ones he had to remove to fix the leak were from a different dye lot and they weren't even the right tile. So now, part of our $6,000 shower has rounded "bull nose" edges, and the other half doesn't. It looks like garbage. Numerous complaints spanning well over a year resulted in absolutely nothing being done. Two years later I'm still so upset even thinking about it!

They tore out our kitchen and master bath tile and installed a more modern tile. They did a beautiful job. They also took over the complete bathroom remodel. I would highly recommend them. They are very personable and want to make sure you’re happy with their work. I had gone into their showroom and they had the flooring we had purchased previously installed the correct way. We have paid them and they continue to follow up on their work.
