"Fantastic! Very polite and did the job quickly.  Ken, the owner, came to our house, inspected the property, and gave us a fair bid.  Within a week our house was treated.  The whole experience was very straightforward and smooth.

"I ended up looking for a new pest control company after the business I used to deal with was bought up by a large corporation. The initial hire was for fire ant eradication and the ants started coming back shortly after the corporation took over. Jenkins Pest Control came the day after I found them here, and arrived an hour early for my appointment. They not only treated for fire ants. Fleas, roaches and spiders were included. This first treatment was kept outside since I have pet rabbits in the house. But they were very thorough, spraying both the yard and exterior of the house. So hopefully, we won't need any inside treatment. When they left the fire ant hills were gone. Their price is more reasonable than what I had paid previously for quarterly treatments. If their work keeps the ants out of my yard between visits, this will stay a 5 star review."

"Ryan was super knowledgeable and he was one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Rhonda, who helped me set up the appointment was also very nice and gave top notch customer service. I am going to call right now and set up a continued service schedule. The first company I called wanted to come and give a quote. I want the pests gone NOW was my thought. My second company was Bug Defender and I am so glad I went with them."

"When our landscaper said we had a bee problem after they were stung, we called in the experts at Critter Control. Roger and another tech arrived early for our appointment and went to examine the area after we provided them the information we had. Well---there was no bee nest found, nor any signs of bees in or around the utility boxes within the landscaped area. We are so grateful that Critter Control is upfront and honest. They gave us helpful information on signs to look for but didn't even charge us for their inspection service call. Now this is amazing customer service! Thanks Critter Control!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

You can use commercial repellents to help deter rodents, but they often have mixed results. A better solution is preventing rodents from getting under your home in the first place. Using steel wool or foam sealer, plug all potential entry points like gaps and cracks in the foundation.

Also, consider installing hardware cloth or wire mesh over vents, utility openings, and any openings under the porch or foundation. Regular inspections and maintenance will aid in early detection and prevention, ensuring a rodent-free environment beneath your house.

This varies based on the circumstance. Chemical-based pest control baits and poisons are usually the most potent, but they are unsafe to use around children and pets, so they won’t be a fit for every household.

Safer alternatives, such as boric acid and food-grade diatomaceous earth, can work as well, though they should still stay out of reach. Aside from that, the best thing any DIY-er can do is make their place uninviting by sealing off entry points, eliminating clutter, and maintaining a clean home.

There are several ways to dry out flea eggs. Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural ingredient that can dry out fleas, but it’s messy to apply and can also cause respiratory issues for members of your household if inhaled. Salt is safer and easier to apply, so shake it liberally over affected areas. Boric acid is another way to get rid of fleas and other insects, but this, too, can cause respiratory issues and health problems if inhaled or ingested.

If a coyote approaches you, never run away, even if it goes against your natural instinct. Make yourself look big, shout loudly, and throw something in the coyote's direction. Be persistent and continue these scare tactics until they move away. Then, you should move away slowly, always facing the coyote.

Woodpeckers may seek out homes with aluminum siding or tin roofs because these surfaces echo their drumming. Homes with wood siding are more frequently targeted as roosting areas or for food sources. If you have insects living in the exposed wood in your home, the birds are likely looking for a snack, in which case your best option is to hire an exterminator.
