"Country Roads was one of 4 bids I got to regrade and restore my long (300') driveway with road base and crushed asphalt. After grilling each of the contractors about how they were going to approach it, I concluded that any of the 4 would do a decent job at a fair price. But I wanted more than a decent job, and it became clear that Jay (owner) and I were on the same page -- not only to make the driveway strong and long-lasting, but to take the time to make it look good. On top of that, the price was very competitive, and the responsiveness from the "front office" (aka Jay's wife Jennifer) was impressive. I have no doubt who I will call for future work. Thx Jay & Jen!"

"Carlos at Complete Tree Services Inc was a pleasure to work with. He was the total package from the initial consultation the completion of the job. He knows his stuff. His landscapers were easy to work with also. I am such a happy camper with this company and will be calling them again for a couple of future projects I want done."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

If you miss the perfect time frame to trowel finish concrete, you likely won’t get the smooth, flawless result you’re looking for. In this case, you should contact a concrete professional or look to methods like sanding, grinding, or patching once the concrete dries. These methods will ensure the best final result for the lowest cost.

It is possible to DIY complete hardscaping projects, but in most cases, hiring a professional is best to get the job done correctly. Hardscaping—including installing patios, decks, retaining walls, walkways, and water features—is challenging and time-consuming, so the money you spend on a professional is typically worth it. Not only will the quality be better, but you could avoid problems that come along with a lack of hardscaping experience, like drainage issues that can lead to costly foundation damage and leaks in your home.

Box fill refers to the maximum number of conductors that can be contained within a wiring enclosure box, as well as the total volume of the components. Determining the allowable number of conductors in a box requires adding up the number of conductors, clamps, support fittings, devices and equipment, and equipment grounding conductors to make sure you’re within the allowable volume.

If your driveway is cracked, you can repave it with a process called asphalt overlay. Overlay is more cost-effective than a full replacement but is better suited for minor cracks and issues. If you have major cracks or other problems like water pooling, asphalt overlay isn’t your best bet. Plus, paving over a cracked driveway only extends the lifetime by about 10 years, whereas replacing it would start the clock over completely to give you up to 30 years.
