"I needed a structural engineer for removing a wall. The company was able to give me a written plan I could submit to city inspectors in a very timely manner. What I thought would be a huge puse in our remodel ended up going on without delay."

"We are planning on removing some walls in our house. I contacted Crosstown Engineering to see if they could help. Their engineer, Angel, came out to take a look. Angel was very professional, right on time, and did an awesome job explaining everything to me. He pointed out the changes we would need to make, helped me to understand the process to tear down our walls, and provided an excellent written report for us. If I need structural work or any other type of engineering, I am coming back to Crosstown Engineering."

"

Dave is just amazing to work with. Even after completing our final design a few months ago, Dave was more than willing to make several modifications to the drawings, over the course of at least a week. Thank you again Dave for your patience and for perfecting our vision for our home renovation. This has been a wonderful experience and we will continue to tell all of our friends and family about you! The Hearlds

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Fort Worth, homeowners often overlook the importance of professional soil testing and proper drainage planning, leading to future foundation issues. Skipping permit requirements or not following updated building codes can cause costly setbacks. Hiring contractors without local expertise or adequate insurance is another frequent error. Failing to account for severe weather risks or site-specific challenges can also compromise structural integrity and project outcomes.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Fort Worth may face unexpected expenses for advanced soil stabilization, specialized foundation systems, or additional structural testing due to local soil conditions. Extra costs can also arise from permit reviews, compliance with historic district guidelines, or weather-related project delays. Utility relocations and adjustments to meet evolving building standards may further impact your budget, especially as construction activity increases in the area.

Helpful?

Before starting structural engineering work in Fort Worth, first arrange for a detailed soil analysis to address local clay conditions. Next, secure all required permits and check for HOA guidelines. Schedule utility marking before excavation and select professionals familiar with Fort Worth’s weather and soil challenges. Planning your project outside of storm season and allowing extra time for permit processing can help prevent unexpected delays.

Helpful?

In Fort Worth, consider how clay soil movement and frequent storms can impact your project’s design and timeline. Check if your property falls within a floodplain or historic district, as these areas may require special approvals. Also, think about neighborhood aesthetics, local construction activity, and how seasonal weather patterns could affect access or construction schedules. These factors all influence project success and home safety.

Helpful?

Completing structural engineering projects in Fort Worth delivers immediate improvements in home safety and structural integrity, especially with the area’s shifting clay soil and unpredictable storms. In the long run, you’ll benefit from enhanced foundation stability, improved energy efficiency, and reduced repair needs. These upgrades also increase your property’s value and appeal, making your home more resilient and competitive in Fort Worth’s active real estate market.
