"Brendon from Auger Plumbing gave us the bad news that the cast iron pipes in our 45-year old house have to be replaced. He was very professional and sympathetic and patiently explained our options. This is the fourth time over the last ten years that we have used Auger Plumbing, and each time the plumbers and their work have been outstanding. They arrive quickly and work quickly. They explain what needs to be done so that we can understand. We have not had any problems with any of their work."

"My installation was done within a couple hours of my request and the installation was done very professionally and all items were checked to insure everything was installed properly and the dryer was working correctly before the service call was completed. He also checked to insure the washer was properly installed by someone else. Highly recommended."

"From the time I made the inquiry to the job being finished was the best experience. Kari from Blue Frog Plumbing called me within a minute to schedule and Paul was at my door within an hour. He gave the estimate, we hired him, and he and Brandon finished the install and removed old heaters same day. Best customer service! Will use them for all plumbing needs in the future."

"We love in  Plano and had (3) interior doors that needed replacing due to incidents with children over the years. We also needed a new front door.

GH came out and replaced the interior doors and installed a new front door. The process went smoothly. They arrived on time, did their work and cleaned up before they left.

I would definitely recommend GH Construction to anyone looking to hire a contractor for work."

"The service was great.  I was a bit disappointed in the extra charges that were necessary to install the water heater to code.  The fine details in the advertisement did say that extra charges could apply to ensure the water heater was installed to code...but it was my expectation that a few of the parts and pieces that I had to pay for, should have been included in the original price.  Aside from that, the service was great and I would definitely use these guys again.

"Jesse came to asses and bid the job and gave me different options. I thought my water heater was 12yrs old-13maybe, but it was over 20. More bids/estates came in much higher than theirs AND I also learned from others I could buy my own water heater and pay a plumber for insulation only. So I got a new WH and an extended warranty on it. Mother Plumber sent a Fantastic-informative-polite technician Matt to install and warranted his work. AND THEN I learned about the membership without auto renewal AND I saved even more money on that! I can tell you, you can’t beat this company in price and coverage. And i just trust them. Trust is a big issue. They make money, but they give you so much more than the others and coverage thru membership that keeps you safe year after year if you’re smart. Thanks to Mother Plumber, I feel brilliant!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.

Boiler installations and replacements cost between $3,600 to $8,400. Expect to pay around $5,900 on average for a new boiler, including installation. Adding new radiators or heaters to the boiler may include separate costs if you are also upgrading those components, so the final price may be higher. To decrease costs, you can look for local energy rebates for using a boiler and wait until installers are offering discounts for a first-time installation.

In most cases, repairing a radiator is more affordable than replacing it. A typical repair may cost between $100 and $200, while a replacement can average $1,500, with a range of $250 to $2,500 depending on the unit type. Radiator issues are often simple fixes for a professional, such as a blown fuse, malfunctioning thermostat, or a loose valve, and can take less than an hour. However, if the long-term costs of fixing the radiator are higher than replacement, it's better to get a new model. It is recommended to consult a heating expert to diagnose the problem and determine the best solution for your situation.

Oil boilers provide reliable heating, efficiency, and long-term cost savings compared to electric options.

Most home boilers will need an expansion tank. That’s because these boilers are closed-loop systems, where the water is trapped. An expansion tank is needed when the boiler heats the water and it expands, allowing air to condense in the tank to make room for the water. Other types of boilers don’t use an expansion tank, such as traditional steam boilers, but these aren’t as common. And hot water tanks may be able to use a pressure release valve instead. When in doubt, call in a pro to take a look.
