"Needed a barbed wire fence installed between my neighbor and I, with corner and center supports. Only about 230 total feet. Hector and his crew showed up that morning when promised and got to work. They finished that afternoon and the fence was perfect. They did an exceptional job! I would not hesitate to recommend HM Services! In fact I will be using them in the future!"

"Thank you to BTXteriors and Ryan Turner for the awesome new roof! It looks fantastic! Ryan, you have been extremely patient with my skepticism . You worked seamlessly and professionally through any problems and stumbling blocks that we encountered you went above and beyond to make this happen. The one day in and out was very impressive. You said theyâ d be there at 8:30AM, you delivered. Thank you, Daniel for keeping me informed on the roof process throughout the day, by taking pictures of the roof, and speaking with me in person. The crew cleaned up all old shingles and paper even blowing off the porch. I have nothing but FANTASTIC things to say about BTXteriors. The professionalism with this company, and their follow through goes above and beyond. Would I work with BTXteriors again. Would I recommend BTXteriors. YOU Better Believe I would. Thank you again Kristy and Allen Carpenter"

I would like to introduce myself as Leonel Gonzalez, with 7 years of experience in the construction industry. I’ve worked in remodeling of courthouses in Texas which consisted of carpentry such as installing baseboards, cabinets, window trims, custom doors and other furniture. Therefore I also have experience in paint and stain jobs. \nConsidering my self a responsible, honest, and respectful person towards others everything I do is to provide for my family.

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.
