"Carlos and his team did an amazing job building out my new fence and the new patio cover, as well as laying a concrete slab for the patio. Would highly recommend them. From his work, he's gotten two other jobs in the neighborhood."

"Marcelino Lopez built beautiful 14’ customer cabinets and shelves in our den. He also custom built floor to ceiling cabinets on the garage with a work bench. We told him what we wanted and he made some great suggestions we hadn’t even thought about. He emailed us his CAD drawings and they were great, very detailed. He’s s a perfectionist, his work is high quality, no corners cut, and his prices are very reasonable. He’s always on time and cleans up when he’s through for the day. He has been building cabinets for 30 years, I would highly recommend him and would hire him again! Beautiful work, you won’t be sorry you hired him!"

"I filled out their form online and the next morning Jordan Hulcy, a co-owner with the company, responded to me via text. He asked a few questions and was ready to get us on his schedule for a free in-person visit to find out what we wanted to do and provide a same-day bid. I had t text Jordan with some questions to get clarification on some of the language in our project agreement/contract. He responded to me the same day. Jordan was very transparent with us about the process including the materials used. To get on the schedule, we paid 50% of our contracted total. Jordan immediately reached out to us to schedule the Engineer to come out. This was done around our schedule which we really appreciated. The same day the Engineer came out with Jordan, our project plan was finalized, and our wall removal project was scheduled for the next Tuesday. On Tuesday morning the crew was scheduled to start at 7:30am. They began arriving about 7:00am to unload their lumber in their staging area in our front yard along with delivery of the trash trailer so they could clean up during and after the project. Promptly at 7:30am, Jordan walked up with his crew and introduced everyone. He walked them through the project area briefing them on the specifics. We had a big project, removing a total of two walls and a foyer doorway to open our living/family room to the foyer and kitchen areas. Kudos not only to Jordan, but his crew leader Trey, and team members Zach, Danny, Paco, and Jose. They worked diligently all day for two days making sure to clean up after themselves. We are thrilled with the results and recommend Load Bearing Beam Masters."

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.
